I was running my vac when it caught the fringe on a throw. I turned it off and carefully pulled it out but now I don't have any suction and it's not cleaning the carpet.

Don't know the model too well but the beater bar is what goes when that happens(the brush that goes around right there on the intake of the sweeper) it has a belt that makes it turn and you probably broke the belt or burnt it up or it came off so it is the belt that is the problem. That will give you those symptoms because the beater bar (rotating brush) is what lifts the dirt up so it can be sucked in.

While using the power mate rug part I caught a small rug and the vacuum would no longer pick-up .

Check to see if there is a reset button on the head. This protects the machine for times like you described. When something jms up the reset button will turn ofdf th machine. Simply push the reset. Hope this helps, Chris

How can i replace or unclogg the hose ?model qsp 8

Remove the hose and lay it straight. Then using a broom or mop handle, push it into the hose and collapse the hose on the handle as far as you can. (Think crinkling your socks to pull them over your feet). You'll be doing much the same as you pull the hose up onto the handle. If you have no resistance from one end, then do the same things from the other end. Then replace the hose onto the vac and turn on the power. Your pushing with the broom/mop handle should dislodge whatever is caught and the suction from the vac should pull it through the rest of the way. I hope this helps. If so, please rate my solution. Good luck!

I was vacuuming over some fringe and then the brush just stopped working and there is nothing caught in it. It spins freely when twisted by hand, but will not turn when vacuum turned on.

have you checked the belt? it could have snapped when you caught the fringe. also if it has a separate brushroll motor there should be a reset that probably tripped out.

Beater brush is good, vacuum running no suction

this sounds like your vacs dust passage from the rotary brush to bag is blocked ? you can diy this if you turn vac over to show the brush and covering cover you will see cover is held by some screw/bolts ? remove these and cover then the brush assy is slotted in place either side on bush/bearings and the drive belt is around the brush memorise how it fits! then gently/carefully lift brush out the belt will create spring action once brush removed you will see where the dust travels thro an arpeture on the belt side of vac this usually is where blockage is clear it out and any other within the area of brush then reassemble and check vac

Hi, I have an Electrolux Ambassador and the other day I was vacuuming a fringe carpet and the fringe made the Electrolux stop (has happened before) and when I pressed the reset button, the motor is on but the wheel does not spin. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are 2 possibilities that could be happening. Either the belt is broken of which you can replace the belt @ least one a year for proper maintenance or there may be a reset for the vacuum in case you get something caught in the brushroll section of the vacuum. Check both of those items and it should work unless you have a motor burn out – if you did there would be a burning smell. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Vacuum Keeps Clogging

Wish I knew what you have. You could have a clogged filter. Have you dropped something like a big marble down thru the hose to see if it comes out with out any problem. Sometimes a needle or nail or a piece of something that gets caught and turns sideways so that things hang up on it then clog up the hose. If your vac. will run without the hose, if it does, how is the suction at the spot that the hose plugs into? If ok, then there is a problem with the hose, if low, then you have a problem with the vac. If this an upright, the dirt inlet by the brsh roll is clogged, or the belt is stretched enought so the the brush roll uner load won't turn, acting like low suction.

How to connect the vacuum system in the swimming pool

Hello,
This is not a problem that I can help you with, you need to contact someone in your area that deals with swimming pools and they have vacuums that are specially designed to do the swimming pools and they can better direct you in what to do.

Nutone central vac
no suction on lower level second floor fine
ran fish tape but it does not go all the way through,
do i need to take pipe out.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Not @ first, try to get a central vacuum cuff and go to each and every inlet / outlet down the basement and put the cuff in the inlet – the central vac should come on and possibly might unclog the pipe, 2nd, try taking another canister type vacuum while the central vac is running and open the inlet door and try to “pull apart the clog in the pipe” – this does work upon occasion if not you can try a plumbers snake – but be careful because the walls of the pvc pipe are thin wall and you don’t want to poke a hole in the pipe or other wise you will have to replace the pipe. The absolute last resort should be to replace the pipe if all other do not work. Feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in your area or in the yellow pages , or contact the factory @ the phone #’s listed below:
