I guess you didn't see my original question? Ok, I will write this yet again...

I have a Casio XJ-350 Projecter. When I plug it in it the power light turns amber - this is good. When I hit the power button to turn the projecter on it, it beeps at me 4 times and the the temp light blinks red and the power light is a solid red. Needless to say, the projecter is not projecting. I suspect I need to reset something on this projector. Just not sure what.

    Couple problems with your suggestion.
    1. Because it is not projecting, I can't "go into the menu".
    2. The manual doesn't tell me how to do this
    3. I have not recently replaced the lamp

It's blinking in 1/2 second intervals.

what is the "mains lead" - do you mean the power cord. I haven't used it for over a year. It was stored in a closet in the house. No water, moisture etc.

if you have replaced the lamp, you will need to reset the lamp counter by going into the menu on the projector ,manual can be obtained here, in case you have misplaced it

read page 108 it gives instructions for resetting the lamp timer

your original question was this "This projector is beyond warranty. I am willing to open up the box and do what is needed."

Anyway How many times a second does the temp light flash? if its 1 every second then its an internal memory error according to the manual. As you cant actually start up the projector it wont be able to be reset manually

Have you attempted to leave it switched off for an hour and then reattach the mains lead to see if it will start up. Have you checked the fan is not blocked or clogged. The symptoms really sound as if there is a problem with it overheating or the lamp. Did it alert you saying the lamp is reaching the end of its life, has it been near moisture? Has it been used much lately? If it hasnt , where was it stored?

yes mains lead is power cord. What colour is the lamp light, the top most light above the temp light

My conclusion is that the lamp is defective and needs to be replaced, this could have been caused by many factors

Hi Mark,

It sounds like this is a non user repair. If the projector is out of warranty it may be more cost effective to replace it than repair it as you will be billed around £75 + courier charges for someone to take a look, plus any additional charges. A simple internal cleaning may help. LCD projectors have open optics so dirt, grease, smoke etc can get in and cause staining.

The UK Sanyo repair agent is multicare in Leeds. If you are lucky this projector was supplied with a 3 year warranty and which may still be valid as it's not a particularly old model.

Best of Luck.

NEC VT 440 Projector noise

The unit needs to be opened and have the fan checked. If it is out of warranty and you are capable you should be able to access the fan quite easily. It may be rubbing against something or it may have contaminants inside and needs to be replaced.
