Replaced toner cart in my Kyocera FS1550 (same as FS1500 and FS1600) but after printing 50 copies message "Replace toner kit TK12" appears and printer won't work

Yes, I did several times. I had another brand new original Kyo Toner cartridge which did exactly the same - i.e. it printed about 50 copies, then zilch.
I also pushed the roller thingy which is under the toner cartridge firmly into its seating but to no avail. I checked to make sure the used toner outlet was clear from obstruction.
Any more ideas would be much appreciated. This is good workhorse printer, generally rock solid, but this is a complete mystery.

The adhesive strips had been removed otherwise I could not have printed the first 50 copies. Both cartridges were factory sealed brand new original Kyocera items.

Yes I removed the cartridge and vigorously shook them horizontally (as shown in the instruction leaflet) to ensure any caked toner was dispersed.

Check to see it the toner cartridg is fully seated. Also the is usually a tab or strip that has to be removed. Check the instructions.

I have replaced the toner (C) on my Kyocera C5015N and cleaned the printer with the proper kit and still I get a message telling me to replace the toner and clean the printer. help?

these machines are notorious for this you have to remove the c developer unit and shake the hell out of it you need a trained tech to do this if you attempt it cover the toner hole and firmly shake the hell out of it if successful it will start to add cyan toner when you reassemble and turn it on it will probably add too much so you will need to keep running prints until it looks good or replace the c developer unit be aware shaking the unit will get toner all over so cover it with a rag good or you will have a big mess

Just replaced toner K and now says empty

You replaced the Cartridge with a OEM product or third party or a refill. if the last the electronic chip on the toner cart is still telling the machine the cartridge is old so refilling will never work replace the cart with OEM cart,

We replaced the toner cartridge and the waste receptical and the little red light "Add Toner:" is still on and the machine won't copy. We have removed the cartridge and did the dance...

If it is a Kyocera toner than that is the problem. The key to turn the toner is different for the Kyocera toner cart. It will fit and appear to work but won't. Also turn the unit off and unplug for 15 sec. will reset and perform boot up procedures might help.

Kyocera FS-C5030N Led Printer My printer ran out of the blue (cyan) toner so I replaced the cartage carefully following are the cleaning steps like I've done successfully before with the other colors....

You need to reset the toner counter. This is done through the Menu button and selecting Life Counters. The instructions on how to do this are found in the Advanced Operators Guide on page 2-75. The link below will take you to the manufacture's website where you can download it.
http://usa.kyoceramita.com/americas/jsp/Kyocera/resource_details.jsp?pid=14192&rid=14764

Resetting the Toner Counter

The toner containers must be replaced when the printer displays the Low toner or Replace toner message which will be given depending on the color of toner. The Low toner message will be shown as a pre-warning that the toner is running out and the printer will soon stop, at that time showing Replace toner. If you replace the toner container before Replace toner is displayed, you must manually reset the toner counter as explained below. Note that if you reset the toner counter before the toner container is replaced, the subsequent toner warnings will not be indicated correctly.

I hope this is helpful,

Shawn

Remove, shake well and re-install. It may have a broken auger inside the cart.

The add toner light stays on with a new toner cartridge

Yes, the machine will only make single copies if the toner light is on. Was the toner cart genuine Copystar? Or perhaps Kyocera cart? The machine is made by Kyocera and marketed under both name brands, however, the toner carts are different for both machines. I have seen many times that aftermarket carts will not always work properly.
