Question about Dryers

1 Answer

The dryer is viberating more that usual. I opened and checked the rollers under the barrel. They turn and don't feel loose but the entire moving parts assembly around the barrel is visibly shaking more that it used to.

I just had to replace the rollers and the front and back seals on my dryer because it was doing the same thing. You might also replace the belt while you are in there, if it looks worn. Mine runs good now.

Hello Mwagner, sounds like the Idler bearing pulley assembly has come loose from the belt. It's job is to keep tension on the belt so the motor is able to turn the dryer drum. By watching some videos online it seems that alot of teardown is required to get to the part you need to inspect and or replace. Here is a link for you to look at that might help you. Loud noise that sounds like a train coming from drum

Check inside the drum for loose plastic bars that run front to back. You will need to release the top to tighten them if they exist. With top open, check the drive belt condition and replace it if it is cracked, pieces missing, or running loose. To release the belt, open a panel in back and release whatever creates tension in the belt (usually remove a large spring). With belt off, turn the drum by hand to check the rear bearing and whatever provides a bearing for the front edge of the drum--some dryers use plastic plates on the cabinet side for the drum to turn on, and others have actual rollers that the drum turns on. If rollers, check each one for missing pieces or warped surfaces of the rollers. If plates, check each one for wear through to the metal. Hope this helps.

Dryer tumbler barrel loose

Depending on what brand a model. This sounds as though the guide roller or guide roller shaft are bad and are in need of replacement. It could also be the tub glides are bad. If you will give me the brand and model number I can probably tell how to check this and repair.

Paper does not feed completely properly.

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

If the error still exists then its the problem with rollers it needs to be serviced..

Good luck..

My dryer dries but it shrieks. Do I need to buy a new one? Is it worth it to have it fixed? Thanks!

usually this is a sign the felt bearings on the drum, or the roller bearings under the drum are worn and need replacing
felts and rollers should be visible once you open the case
check the rollers turn freely, check the felts are not worn through and metal showing
replace both rollers or both felts if one is worn
roolers are bout $9 /pair
felts can be anything the manufacturer thinks they are worth
