Question about Canon ZR830 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Won't play on TV

Hi-- I purchased a used Canon ZR830 camcorder that did not include an AV cord to hook it up to the TV. I ordered one of the internet that was said to be compatible. I can't get movies that I have recorded to play on the TV. Nothing at all. Have tried more than one TV. The AV cord seems to fit fine but not sure what the issue is. I was also provided with the original USB cord but no software. I tried to plug it up to my computer just to see if it would recognize anything but it didn't. I guess that could be because of the lack of software but still doesn't explain why they won't play back on the TV.
Thanks

Some of those av cords are wired for use on Apple computers and the leads into the mini jack are either reversed or they don't line up properly. The best way to get it fixed is to bring the camera into Radio Shack and test the correct cable that you need. You can order one from Canon usa website as well.

To get the USB connection to work requires software to run it. Pinnacle Studio works well with that.

How can I hook this cam up to my Television?

For this camera you will need to find in your equipment (or purchase) a "stereo video cable "
This cord features a 1/8th (male) headset jack on one end and 3 male RCA jacks on the other. (yellow/red/white).

Plug the 1/8th jack into the camera's AV input and the RCA plugs into your TVs RCA port input and select the correct AV input (AV 1, 2, etc)on your tv selector and the camera should play through your tv.

Playing camcorder video on TV

Hello there. The only way to hook up your camcorder to the tv is if you change the settings of your camcorder. Every camcorder has a different setting menu so you might just have to look it up in the manual. Or maybe your cables are not connected properly.

Want to view my canon mvx330i camcorder through my tv

Open the front plastic cover to the right of the lens and expose the ports. The yellow one is the AV port. Press the MENU button on the left side and use the rocker switch above to display AV-PHONES, select AV, and press the MENU button to set it and close the menu. Turn both  the camcorder and TV OFF.
Connect the camcorder AV port to the TV RGB inputs (VIDEO + AUDIO L + AUDIO R) with the cable that came with the camcorder. It has a mini stereo plug at one end and three RCA plugs at the other.
Switch everything on, press PLAY on the camcorder (don't forget to make sure the cassette is wound back to the start). sit back and enjoy.

Export movie from an older TRV68 to computer

Hi,

I purchased a canon elura 100. The 100 has a AV -> DV converter. This allow you to tunnel your Sony via a 3.5mm 4-pole mini AV to mini AV camcorder A/V cable to your computer.

Sony (via AV out) -> (AV) Canon -> PC/Mac (DV) via fire wire cable

You should have received the lead to plug into your TV you should also have a lead to plug into your PC monitor plus power lead and brick. The lead for the computer monitor would be the lead you need to play on an HDTV. Please rate if useful, thanks!

Digital camcorder to convert VHS tape to PC for DVD burn

You can't with what you've got I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in order to play tapes in a vcr and run them through a digital camcorder for output to a computer, the camcorder must have s-video or av inputs. Your camera only has s-video or av outputs, used for sending from the camera to the vcr or tv. Also, some cameras have the inputs but don't support analog to digital pass-through (which is what you are describing). With these cameras you input from the vcr and record it to the tape in the camera, and then output it to the computer. Without the inputs, you can't do either one.
