Screen is black

If you're getting just a flashing cursor on a black screen it's probably a motherboard/video card/hard disk problem (probably motherboard).

If there's not even a flashing cursor - just a black screen - you can add a failed power unit to your list of problems.

The easiest way to check is to borrow a power unit and video card from a friend's computer. There's no need to remove your existing power unit. Simply disconnect the power cables from the motherboard and connect the spare power unit in its place.

If your computer powers up it is obviously a faulty power unit to blame. IIf there's still nothing on the screen, power down the computer and replace the video card with the spare one. If there's still nothing on the screen when you power it up then in all probability your motherboard is history

Screen is black will not take pictures

If screen is black you have 2 situations: camera is power on or power off. If its power on and screen is black, its very possible to have something defective inside on the cam microcomputer board or with the display block, and my suggestion is to get to a repair shop for a test or if you are still in the grace period from the manufacturer, to ask for a free investigation. Cheers (PS sometimes black screen occurs when the LCD inverter is gone)

On power on, screen comes to life for 1/10th sec, then dies. Power supply seems to be from Benq.

i just repaired a HP1955 monitor, the symptom was: when you power up the monitor,it shows on screen a desktop, but after a sec is screen going black..this repeats continously...

i just resoldered the AC cord connector on power board and also the impulse transformator...now the monitor is running good..
