Question about Yamaha HTR-6030 Receiver

1 Answer

I have a HTR 6030, Samsung C6500. When I connect optical audio out (TV) to optical audio input - DTV/CBL (HTR-6030) all I get is only Stereo sound... The movie is 5.1 played from a HDD connected to a TV. How do I get surround sound?

didn't work. The sound is on all 5 speakers - yes, but it's still stereo. There are only two speakers active on the HTR-6030 display.

maybe setting is not properly, first try to reset unit to factory mode, hold "straight"+"audio select", then press standby to activate Diagnise mode, find factory reset.

maybe your music source is a stereo traces, replace a multi channel DVD to test

I have checked my HTR-6030, same like yours. whatever I did, it still display two SPK active. but have you seen all SPKs activate since you bought it? I guess this is a design problem, instead of unit defective. even in FM mode, unit display 5 CHs, but still same display.

I can't get surround sound to work on my HTR-6030. All the cables are connected properly, and I'm sending the signal from my Blu-Rays optical out into the DTV/CBL optical in of the receiver. I'm only...

Check that the Blueray isn't set to downsample to stereo. Your receiver could also be set on stereo. Do you have a "sound" button where you can cycle through different modes?

My HTR-6060 plays through the tuner and dvd but not the DTV/CBL

Digital settings need to be assigned by the receiver in the ption Menu >> Audio Select.

Check the one for the HDMI from DTV/CBL.

I have no TV box but do have cable, how do I hook up TV,VCR,DVD, and YAMAHA HTR 6030

For watching TV, your TV should have a monitor out. This will go to your CBL/Sat input on the receiver. If you have a newer TV, it will have an optical output,if you use that, you will have Dolby Digital surround when available, and digital stereo at all other times. For the VCR and DVD, if they are separate units, Run audio video from the VCR to the receiver to VCR 1, for the DVD, use Component video and optical or digital coaxial to the receiver. Then from the receiver run component video to the TV. If you need further help, post a comment and I will help you further. Hope this helps

Yamaha HTR-5750 no sound when I turn to the DTV/Cable setting

If you are not getting sound on "Any" input except "multi channel" you have a bad DSP chip in the receiver. In short, you need a new receiver, it's a 500.00 repair. If you get sound on "All" inputs except "DTV/CBL" You need to get into the main menu of the Yamaha and select audio, toggle to input, then DTV/CBL and select "Auto". If you still do not get audio, it would be due to the version of HDMI software in your receiver. If it's under warranty, Yamaha will update hardware and software for you at N/C. If it's out of warranty, use digital coaxial or optical as your audio input for TV and run your HDMI directly to the TV. (The repair for this too would run 250-350) I hope I've covered all the possibilities. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you more.

No sound from my htr-6030 when i hook it up to my dvd player with

If you can't use one of the Optical Digital Audio INPUTs on the HTR-6030, why don't you just use the Analog Audio Out on the HDD and an Analog Audio IN on the HTR-6030? It has one actually marked 'DVR', but any one would do.

Getting Audio to work with our Cable Tv

The HTR-6130 does not decode the audio from the HDMI inputs. It only acts as a switcher. You will need a separate audio connection from the cable box to the HTR-6130.

1 front speaker and 1 surround speaker won't work on cable selection

theres probably a problem with the right channel cable or plug that connects the tv to the reciever, or the tv is set to mono audio.

Playstation 3 audio connection into Yamaha HTR-6040 AV Receiver

Is Yamaha HTR-640 a receiver? Try HDMI from PS3 to receiver or Sony HDTV. If HDMI from PS3 to receiver the you need and HDMI from receiver to out Sony HDTV. You could connect everything to receiver and HDMI out to HDTV. You can not have an HDMI cable AND an optical cable coming out of the PS3, only one or the other.
