To connect a Nintendo Wii to the Internet using a wireless connection, please follow the steps below:

  1. On the Wii console's main menu, click on the Wii button in the lower left corner.
  2. This will take you to the settings screen. Click 'Wii Settings'.
  3. In the 'Wii System Settings', click on the blue arrow on the right to reach the second screen of options. On this screen, click the Internet button.
  4. Select 'Connection Settings'.
  5. Select an open connection, indicated by None.
  6. Select 'Wireless Connection'.
  7. Select 'Search for an Access Point'.
  8. At this point, the Wii console will search for any identifiable Access Points nearby. Once this search is completed, you will be directed to choose the Access Point that you wish to connect to, as shown. Click OK to display the list of available Access Points.
  9. Select your Access Point from the list of available Access Points. If your Access Point is not displayed, contact your wireless router manufacturer for support.
  10. Click Save followed by OK to save your connection settings.
If your connection appears as a closed padlock, then the Access Point requires a security code or pass phrase. The security code or pass phrase can usually be found on the security tab of your wireless router settings. If you do not know the security code or pass phrase and do not know how to login to your router to get it, contact your wireless router manufacturer for support.
If your connection signal appears yellow or red, the stability or strength of the connection is not optimal, contact your wireless router manufacturer for support.

If you still have problems, call them at: 1-888-438-2427.

Your Wii could stop connecting to your router for various reasons. I would first try power cycling your router / modem.
1.) Unplug your router, and modem if you have one, for a minimum of 30 seconds. 2.) Plug your modem back up first, if you don't have a modem, just plug up your router. 3.) Wait 60 seconds and try to connect again.
If that didn't work, try moving your Wii to another room or area in the house, or perhaps you need to try moving your router. If you have cleared the settings, then I would suggest opening the ports on your router. I could explain how, but you haven't specified your type of router.
Your best bet is to call your Internet Service Provider (Bellsouth, AOL, Charter, etc.) and have them fix the solution and troubleshoot you through your problem.

Again, I wish I could go more in detail on assisting you with your problem, but your router, modem, and ISP are vital information needed to further aid you with this issue. I hope what I've said helps or puts you in the right direction.

I have cable internet through Charter. Want to use GT704WG router

Unfortunately, this router is only able to be used with DSL. When you are using cable internet this router will be rendered useless with your new service. If you call customer service for Charter they do offer Home Networking that provides you with a wireless router for a small monthly fee or if you are looking for a lower cost one time charge you might check with them as well and see if they provide a "refurbished" wireless router or check on ebay for some good deals....

    Good luck...

I have charter internet with a modem and i have a westell 327w wireless router/modem. How can i connect the two modems to work wirelessly?

I think the Westell Router/modem that you have must be the modem for the DSL connection.
Charter is a cable internet service provider.
You can not use 2 modems connected to each other.
You have a charter modem , you can purchase a wireless router only.
    That will work.
