1 Answer

I have a Technics SU-G75 SIA and when i cut it on it doesn't make the extra "click" sound... ok like when you first cut a radio on, after the first 5 seconds you'll hear a click like the speakers are on... i don't hear it...

Is there a problem other than a missing click?

Or is it silent and essentially dead?

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

The amplifier power transistors could be bad, the speakers can be muted or a fuse for the speakers could have opened.

Technics SU-G75 has no sound

Hello
when the resistors are burned, means that the transistors are damaged, or the power module is damaged.
and in your case its the power module.

Technics SU-G75 overload

I have the same problem..it will be required to remove the board and resolder "cold " solderings... None of above solutions have been helpful, but "you get what you paid for"..and I completely disagree...even if required, remove ALL audio power managing circuitry and replace this expensive original design with TI´s Integrated chips..using PWM technology..unless you want to go back to L6, ot Kts tubes..

Technics SU-g75 Amplifier. No longer any volume. Fuse is OK, display is fine, just no volume??

ALL speaker jacks must be loaded and closed for any sound to come out of this system. Missing one speaker, or one bad connection and you will get no sound or some will work and some will not. speaker wires need to go deep into speaker jack holes.
