Laptop fans are unfortunately very difficult for owners to clean themselves. Bring the computer in to a tech shop and ask them to clean the fan for you.

My ps3 shuts down exactly at the same point on one game every time, any ideas

Does it do this on any other games? Sounds like a scratched disc, try cleaning the disk itself.

TOO HIGH TEMPERATURES AT MY LAPTOP ACER ASPIRE 5735Z

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

Dell d610 shuts down while playing games

Some games require more processor use, some less.

If the games that cause your computer to shut down feature high resolution graphics or fast 3D rendering, then the problem could be insufficient processor cooling. Once the processor gets overheated, it goes into thermal shut down.

If, while you play, the computer runs hot before it shuts down (check the cooling fan outlet), then these are some of the possible reasons:

-cooling fan blades could be obstructed by dust - cooling fan needs to be cleaned or replaced

-heatsink radiator and / or air outlet could be obstructed by dust - also need(s) to be cleaned

-thermally conductive grease on the microprocessor heatsink could be
partially or entirely dried up - old grease needs to be carefully removed and new grease applied (caution - do not use any kind of thermal grease that contains metallic particles like silver or aluminium - you might short out the processor - only use the kinds which are electrically nonconductive)

of course the problem could be elsewhere, but the above mentioned problems turn out to be a common issue with many laptop computers after a few years use, regardless of manufacturer brand and model, also it could be any of or the combination of any or all of the above problems (obstructed air outlet leads to more dust being deposited on the fan blades, more dust on the fan and outlet leads to processor overheating which leads to thermal grease drying which leads to even more overheating and so on...)

hope this helps somewhat

My computer just shuts down on its own after about 20-30 minutes of playing certain games. this hasnt happened in the past and is frequently getting worse and worse

Make sure your hardware isnt getting too hot.
I've your CPU reaches 90 degrees, its gonna shutdown your computer, in order to protect itself from dying.

Try reading your hardware degrees using SpeedFan.

My pc goes off... while playing games... even the low graphics games... also my comp. screen shakes/vibrates ... it shakes evrytime... b4 goin' off its gets heated ( the cpu) nd then goes off in about 20 -...

Have you ever removed the side panel and cleaned out the dust from inside the computer case?

If your fans or air inlets get clogged up with dust then your machine will run very hot and will definitely slow down and could eventually shut down or cause permanent damage.

Unplug all the cables from the back of your pc, and remove the 2 screws from the back panel that secure the side panel. Then just pull back on the side panel and it will pop off.

Clean out all the dust from inside the case. You can use a vacuum hose but don't bang into anything with it. Also use a small clean paint brush to lightly brush the dust off of the fan blades and the CPU heatsink and around the power supply air vents. You can also use a can of compressed air if you have it to dislodge the dust and then vac it up with the vacuum.

Good luck and please comment back here to this page and click on the 4 Thumbs Up rating icon if this was at all helpful. Thank you.

When I play the Full Version of Gran Turismo 5, after 30 mins, the con sole beeps 3 time, then shuts down, if i play other game this never happen , only with Gran Turismo 5 did I encounter this, what does...

Sometime this can be a over heating problem especially with the fat ps3's and if you leave it off for a while and re-locate it somewhere where it can breath it can be ok. It's also a good idea to clean your ps3 to get rid of dust build up to help with cooling. Worse case scenario this could be a lead up to the YLOD problem.

--YLOD--
LEDs at the front of the console when attempted to turn on goes green, then yellow, back to green, then beeps three times and blinks red. This then causes a PS3 to be unusable and is effectively dead.

Do what i mentioned above with cleaning and put in an open space then run a different game for atleast 45mins see how you go.

If the game runs ok put in gran turismo 5 and play again. Let me know how you get on :)

Thanks.

My PS3 shuts down whilst playing, the screen starts to flicker then shuts down. Also the fan is running quite alot, could be connected.

your system coolers should be positioned in an open area, it makes possible the cold air to change with the hot air. when the system is overheating, it turns off to protect hardware.

try cleaning your coolers: turn the back on/off switch OFF . then, hold the eject button and turn the on/off switch ON (while holding the eject button !!)

your coolers will run in maximum speed for a while, it should set them free from any dust inside the system .

Random shutdown for no reason

Is the laptop hot?

Would you say the reboots are totally random, or more only when you have several programs (or large memory eating programs open)?

If you disable automatic restarting you will see the BSOD that is causing the problem.

Right Click My Computer
Click Properties
Click Advanced
Click Settings (For startup and recovery)
Uncheck the "Automaticaly restart " box.

Run your game, and report back the 0x000000 mesassage :)

Unwanted Shut-off

First Charge up you battery while the computer is off. Once fully charged unplug the adapter and play the game...see if it shuts down. If not replace that ac adapter. If it still shuts down... Your unit is overheating most likely. When you play high tech games which cause the processor and fans to run harder once it gets to hot. And most times you can hear the fan running loud on your laptop. 1. check the system requirements on the game 2. Are you overclocking your processor, check your bios 3. Lower the graphics settings and features in your game.. see if it shuts down 3.Or while you are running the game do the follow hit ctrl, alt, del buttons at the same time. A task manager box will pop up. Click on the tab Performance.....what is your cpu usage? 100% if so it's running the proccessor hard. Now in the same box click on Processes, then user name, you will then see all processes that are running at that time. If you want to play the game off line...only!!! you can stop some processes from running. On the bottom right hand corner of your screen by the clock you will see icons that load up at startup. Right click the ones not in use, like virus scan, firewall, other background applications that are running by right clicking over the icon and exiting or closing the application. Now keep in mind before you go back on line you should restart your computer so your security software will reload. Other reasons would be internal cleaning, fan, heatsink replacements and so forth. Which may need to be performed by a professional repair shop. Now they do have a laptop colling pad which have worked for some people. Also these laptops can overheat quickly, do not sit them on beds, and your lap when using ventilation is important. And also you might still want to have that ac adapter checked out. If all else fail... restart you computer in safe mode...try running the game..see if it shuts down. Good luck with your games
