2007 Sony TV KDJ-50E3000 keeps cycling on and off

Sounds like it needs a new power supply board.

Easy to replace, just open the TV up, unplug and unscrew the old one, pop in the new one!

Sounds like a problem with the optical light engine this model uses--contact Sony in regards to a possible recall issue with this model.

Strange situation, have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and letting the TV cool. I have a older 2006 Sony SXRD rear projection and it takes forever to turn back on if you shut it off then turn it back on. Check this link and maybe its giving you a blinking code. Try counting the number of blinks. Hope this helps.

Sony KDF-50E3000 is LCD Rear Projection tv that has one lamp as back light source and optical unit (light engine) generates image that projects on front screen of tv, it is similar to multimedia projector technolog.
Lamp part number is F93089000 XL-2500 utilized in this model.

Bad lamp or ballast. Try lamp 1st, especially if it has more than 4000 hours of use on it.

Having in mind that a generic lamp will give you 4500 to 6500 lamp hours and the Phillips will give you 6000 to 8000 lamp hours.If your lamp is 2 to yeasr old and you use your tv alot you need to replace your lamp because the ballast is overworking and the safety mechanism on you tv will shut it down,(Ballast) =A ballast is an electrical component used with a fluorescent bulb (or mercury vapor lamp or arc lamp) to conduct electricity at each end of the tube. It supplies the initial electricity to the bulb that creates light, and then it regulates the amount of electricity flowing through the bulb so that it emits the right amount of light.

It is symptom of Lamp that getting weaker and requires replacement. Always buy Sony original lamp and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp for TV safety.

Do this from the remote while the TV is off. In sequence (within 3secs) press "Display" - "5" - "volume +" - then "power". wait 30sec then press "8" and "enter". This will reset the TV back to factory settings. If you still have trouble then something has failed in the set.

You can purchase required XL-2500 Lamp from Sony Accessories Store.
