The coupler nut tends to be screwwed on so tight that even when undone, the collet has bit into the soft shaft of the tool. Holding the rotation lock button in, grab the shank with some strong needle nose pliers and twist the shaft loose or pull it off completely with the nut and then seperate the nut from the shank when it is out of the Dremel Tool. A lot of machine tools are tightened too much, which makes the shanks get all damaged so use only the required tension on that collet nut.

Have Dremel MOD 395 motor runs and speed control works bot shaft won't turn--worth fixing ??? and how

Hi Larry, The tool that you require parts for was discontinued many years ago. Limited parts are available from Dremel. Inside the tool is a flex coupling and spline driver. The flex coupling is # 2615294309 and the price is about $ 1.25. This is the hollow plastic sleeve about 1" long with grooves on the inside, that goes between the motor shaft and the output shaft. The spline driver is # 2615294308 for about $ 1.00. Spline driver sits on the direct end of the motor shaft. The flex coupling sits over the spline driver. Spline driver is about 1/4", hard plastic with grooves on the outside. Total shipping for orders under $ 5.00 is $ 2.50. Orders over $5.00 is $ 4.00. Will not spin or agitate

All functions operate normally except the machine will not agitate.

The agitator is driven by a couple of different methods. The first is the agitator is splined and slips onto the matching splines of the agitator shaft from the transmission. The second is the use of a bell coupling which is splined to the agitator shaft as well and the agitator snaps onto the coupling. If the agitator does not agitate, first remove the agitator and watch the agitator shaft to see if it is working properly. This wil require a small load setting of water and the machine set to run. If the agitator shaft is working properly, it is either the splines on the agitator or the bell coupling that is defective. If the agitator shaft does not work properly, the problem is in the transmission.

Hi:

To redo the shaft would require a machining tool and that means removing the input shaft, with the bother I would replace with standard parts since you would have to tear it down anyway..... Just a small amount of eccentricity would cause vibration.....

Faulty Direct Drive Coupling (Whirlpool / Kenmore / Roper / Estate)

The Direct Drive (motor) Coupling may be broken.
Many Whirlpool/Kenmore brands washing machines utilize a small, relatively inexpensive direct drive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other.

It can wear out over time or fail under overloading conditions. This protects your transmission from excessive loading.

Hello,

Defective Lid Switch
Check lid switch for proper operation. Check the switch for continuity. If it is found to be open, replace the switch assembly.
