If you're in the US, go to http://www.canonusa.com and select "Product Registration" under the "Consumer and Home Office" tab.
If you're not in the US, go to http://www.canon.com, select your country or region, and go from there.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Tips for a great answer:
Jul 25, 2015 | Canon PowerShot A495 Digital Camera
iIt seems that the battery is low or not powerful enough to run the camera properly. when the camera notices there is not enough power it will automatically shut down. ensure the battery is fully charged up on the charger and then try it. the battery type is
Canon NB-3L and if the camera is a few years old or has been stored for a long time the battery may need to be replaced.
if all these have been done and still the problem persists i would recommend a dealer have a look at the camera.
to replace battery open slider plate on bottom of camera and flip tab to release the battery pack.
I hope this was useful.
