Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Hi Maybe i am being paranoid but we had someone to look at our photocopier so they could give us a price on a maintenance contract for our Ricoh Gestetner dsc332. Now we never had any probs but i thought i shoud be safe and get a contract. Now just after the engineer looked at it, it is saying that there is an error. it is sc 389 which i found is "Development gamma calculation error" any ideas on how that happened and if it can be fixed?

It is for the Magenta Development unit. This is a fairly old machine (released in 2004), and if by stating, "we have never had any problems" you mean it's never had parts put into it (especially development units), then I would say the tech probably didn't cause it.

The Development units on these are rated for 80K copies/prints. Even if the machine hasn't yet reached this amount, it could still be time for replacement. Just the normal churning of the developer will wear it out. If the machine is generally used for infrequent small jobs, the units will require replacement before their rated time, due to this type of wear.

Price of print cartridge

Depending on the vendor, you can get the Ricoh 406464 toner for the Aficio SP 3410SF (regular cartridge, not the high yield one) for between $65 and $90 . Some sites to look at http://www.bluedogink.com/ricoh-406464.html and http://www.staples.com/Ricoh-406464-Black-Toner-Cartridge/product_332848 .

I hope this helps.

I have a Savin Model C2824, great shape. I want to downsize can someone tell me what fair market value is?

Without specifics all I can do is give you a ballpark. I would say around $1,500.00 would be a fair price. I base that on the fact that whom ever buys the machine will have no waranty. If the machine is under a transferable maintenance contract then maybe you could go a bit higher. I sell nothing but off lease used color and black&white copiers for a living and have done so for 27 years. If your machine had a fresh refurb done on it then the price would be higher. Anyone who is looking at buying a used color copier/printer is going to be concerned with possibly having to replace expensive parts like imaging units, fusing units etc. Also if your machine has the fax option this will help the selling price. This is a good machine and as long as the meter counts are not to high the the price point I have given you should be pretty close.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Control panel touch screen of Photocopier RICHO MP 3500 not functioning on touching the points by fingers?

Many of the Ricoh MP3500's and similar models are having this problem. Ricoh has since changed vendors for those touch screens, but if you have a service contract or warranty on the copier you can probably get it replaced for free. Contact your local dealer, or if you don't have a service contract you can contact Ricoh directly and see what options they offer.

How much can I sell my 10 year old RICOH AFICIO 350 photocopier for?

These dont really have much value anymore. We trade these in and trash them. Ricoh doesnt really support these anymore.
If it has low copies and runs and looks good you could probally get 500.00 from someone that needs one ....

Ricoh FT 4015 too dark

Depends how many copies are in it. The PCU goes at about 60,000 prints its ordered as a supply. This is the heart of the machine. Lastly would be the fuser. -Carl

Removing Data from leased Ricoh, Canon, IKON MFDs

I can only advise on the Ricoh machines. If you remove the 2-4 screws holding the printer interface in the machine, the entire assembly pulls out and the HDD's are easily removed from the board.
The 20xx is a basic laptop (IDE) drive the 30xx is a standard PC (IDE) drive. As for the newer 3500,4500, etc. They may be a newer SATA or the even the same (i have minimal experience on these ones), but your IT dept can identify them. You can replace these for the cost of a new drive (maybe $60-$80) - The currently installed drives are maybe 20Gb-40Gb . I believe you can only buy maybe an 80Gb these days, but that's fine. Install them and do what you like with the old ones. There should be no formatting required and all features should work as before with the exception (obviously) of anything stored in the document server /address book, etc. Scanning destinations will probably be deleted as well, however it will have no affect on printing features.
Of course 'Ricoh' or "Ikon" (owned by Ricoh) wants to replace it with their "proprietary" HDD at hugely inflated prices -but they will just be "hitachi", or "toshiba" dirves anyway.
I would not be surprised at all if the Canon machines were just as easy - most are.
I don't think you'll want to mention this to your service company, or they will likely come back at you for 'tampering' or something foolish.

This is a suggestion only , and I myself won't accept any liability for damage caused or costs incurred, should you decide to try it.
