Assuming you are dealing with your wireless at home use a browser to connect to your router and enter the configuration page (to do this is different for every type of router, you will need to check your router's documentation to be sure)
From there you usually have to find the "wireless setup" and then find security settings. Use WPA encryption and set a strong password" from there you should be pretty good to go. There are other settings you can use in combination, but WPA is the most important to use.
