Question about GE JVM1653 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Microwave simply stopped working. Initially thought it was the fuse. When I opened the casing, I saw that the cord had burned-off at the contact point in the images. Fuse is still good. The unit is location (over the oven) is dry as a bone. No other rust, corrosion. My question: Should I replace the cord and that plastic adapter or is there a place I can go to simply replace the plastic male adapter fitting? 1) you use contacts cleaner with very speed dry or isopropyl alochol to 100% for dry the humidity sector inside from microwave.+power cord+main switch. The reason is has humidity. This water or some other liquid are NOT that reason isolated. See if some parts are burned or smell strange.
2) test the fuse again. 3) dry the HV transformer and magnetron with infrared LAMPS by 8-10 hours for to dry any humidity.
3) and try again.see the inside of microwave

LG Microwave ran empty for 20 minutes

I recommend you have a service man come in because it is more than a fuse, the keypad control board will need to be checked along with the rest of the system.

KitchenAid KCM2145JSS-1 built-in Doesn't Heat

Everything working is a real good sign. Most likely all thats wrong with your unit is a blown fuse. Go to and you will find the fuse. It's behind the touch pad with most all the other workings. Very easy to replace and cost only $11.76. It looks like an old round glass car fuse but it's made just for micro waves. It's most likely a 20 amp fuse. To get to it, take all the screws out from the back that hols the case on. once you have removed the case you will be able to locate the fuse. Good luck.

We have an emerson microwave oven mw8119sb mnfd sept 08. It stopped working - couldn't get anything to show there was any power. Opened it up & found a burned wire (brown) coming from little power...

I had this exact issue. I purchased this used from someone and thought I got jipped. I opened it up because I have a bit of electronics experience and saw the brown wire. The schematic says that its a thermal cutout. Basically a fuse. I just soldered them together. Might be bad in the long run (fire hazard) but it works and doesnt get hot. The reason the paper clip trick didnt work for you was because thats way too much current through a small piece of metal. Try something with more volume

Why wont it power on?

probably a burned out fuse.

unplug it, open the case, and trace the power cord. There is usually an in-line fuse before the cord attaches to the main transformer.

buy a replacement in the hardware store, look for an old-style automotive fuse.

Purchased microwave oven model #wes1384smss on 1/31/08. Since purchasing, oven periodically simply stops functioning (microwave), but lights are on. After about 5-20 minutes, it will start working again...

Since it's still under warranty, I would contact GE Customer Service here.

GE JVM1440 Spacesaver Microwave

You can fix it without the aid of a repairman. Simply unplug the microwave and remove the outer casing. There should be a few screws around the bottom edge and back panel. Once you have the unit open, look for where the power cord comes in. There should be a circuit board with a fuse mounted to it. This is your input line filter. The fuse should be a 20 amp appliance fuse that you can pick up at any hardware store (Lowe's and Home Depot both carry them). DO NOT op test with the outer casing removed. Potentials of about 14,000 volts are present in the high voltage network of a microwave oven. Close the unit up BEFORE you power it back up. Let me know if this helps.
