If you need certain computer equipment (such as a printer, laptop, desktop computer) but don't care too much about extra features, I suggest looking at the lowest price available for whatever hardware you need. The cheapest costing stuff usually is functional at what it does, and doesn't usually have more features than what it's supposed to do. ( For example, the cheapest printer may not have fax built in, but it will print.)

The next thing you could do, is check craigslist.com and look in the free section of your area. Some times, people give away old hardware they no longer need.

How do i setup scanner from my machine to my laptop? please start from step 1 including cable connectios and scan to folder instructions. I am using windows 8.1 pro

Before you even start, your machines "Network Support" firmware needs to be up to date to be able to connect to a Windows 8.1 PC.
Secondly your machine has to be networked. No USB scanning supported on Ricoh Devices. Create a shared folder on your C: drive called "scans". Share so "everyone" can access the folder. On the MP2852 select scanner mode and tap the block with "Prg Dest" on the screen. Select Folder and Browse for your PC. Enter your PC Username and Password when asked. Find your shared "scans" folder, select it and then tap OK on the screen. Next enter your name and save. You should be good to go. Keep in mind anti-virus and firewalls can block it. Also ensure your PC is part of a "Home Group" otherwise you will not find your PC when you browse from the MP2852. If your PC is not in a "Home Group" then you can just create a "Home Group" under your "Network and Sharing Center" and while you are there ensure that "Password Protected Sharing" is switched off under your "Advanced Sharing Settings" also found in your "Network and Sharing Center".

Can I join a Toshiba 281c to a home group network?

It can be worked with a desktop pc having windows 7 straightly configured to 281c and if the device is shared. Then u can access the desktop pc and browse 281c and send prints. Better to start with as a simple peer to peer connection use TCP/IP and observe that it can be accessed via Internet browser, If the copier utility page appear alright that means ur connected. Good Luck!!

I cant hook my Lexmark X3550 to a wireless network. How do I do this?

You will need a print server to do this. Many stand-alone USB print servers do not support the bi-directional communication needed for the scanner of an all-in-one. (Check the specs if you are using one of these.)

A better option would be to connect the printer via USB to one computer and then share it across the network. A Windows 7 Home Group for example would be a simple way to set the feature. You may need to set the firewall to Trust the other machines in the network.

Set up the printer on the first computer as you normally would. Get the software from http://www1.lexmark.com/products/view/All-in-Ones/Lexmark-X3550/catId=cat10004-category&prodId=3924-product;jsessionid=51301F9D038596164B244112F2F14143.node4 if needed; click on Download Drivers. Then install the software on the first computer and then connect the USB cable. Set the printer to be shared (Start > Devices and Printers and right click on the printer. Find Printer Properties and the Sharing Tab.)

Make sure that the Home Group is set up and all the computers have joined the Home Group if using that feature. For other Windows computers on the network, get the software and then add the printer as a network printer from the Devices and Printers Add a Printer Wizard. If the printer doesn't show up, check the firewall and sharing.

I hope this helps.

(I have never connected an all-in-one over a Home Group. I do not know if the scanner works in that case.)

Hi ..i have a asusA6500R laptop.i would like to reformat it but i cant find my product key..please help me..

In order of preference:

1) Borrow a legit friends CD and install using that
2) Buy one off eBay and install using that.
3) Download from usenet after reading reviews of it and install using that
4) Download from bittorrent and install using that.

Those are listed in order of risk the disk might be infected with a root kit, but I wouldn't worry too much, the chances are quite low it is.

As Microsoft are fond of saying, you buy the licence. You have a legitimate licence, the key is probably stuck to the bottom of your laptop. Download the same version and you have committed no crime.

You could also ask someone at a friendly local computer user group if you may borrow their CD of the same product. It's not like you have to go there twice ;)

I have problem of local printer is connected to domain i cant shared this usb printer on other connceted same domain pcs Basically i have one usb printer and have 20 pcs all are in domain so i want to...

Well you install the printer on the PC required, then in the setup SHARE the printer. You must then install a printer in each one of the "Clients" when asked what sort, use NETWORKED printer and navigate to where ya Printer is on the network using the "Browse" and choose it, then ya good to go.
I have found a more detailed link for your Convience http://uis.georgetown.edu/software/documentation/winxp/winxp.network.printer.html

Instaling network printer from main computer

On the Vista computer, right click on printer, go to sharing tab, click on Additional Drivers button. On the next screen you need to select Windows XP.

This will ensure that whenever a print request is queued from any computer that runs on Windows XP, it will process the request on the Vista machine.

You should also try to ping the printer. You should also check if the computer is able to share files with Vista machine.
