SOURCE: G-Shock Atomic Solar watch - ERR in atomic time keeping

The watch will set itself at specific time set times, this is likely to be at 0200 0400 and 0600.
You will however be required to set the time zone, the switch is likely to be on the back.

I have a number of these Casio and Citizen watches. This watch does not use GPS for the time keeping. It uses a land based broadcast time signal. There is public information about where the signals come from for your area. The technical breakdown of the time code signal is public access information.

The instruction manual of the watch has the information about when your watch should automatically receive the time signal, and how to set up the watch. Many of the manuals also included a map showing the time signal coverage, and includes the time of day information to show when the signal is strongest.

Make sure the watch settings are for your time zone. This is important. If the main time zone is not for your area it will be trying to receive the signal at the wrong frequency at the wrong time of day. There are areas where the signal may not be able to be received. You can get the mapping for this from the service that the watch has been set to use.

In North America the auto time receive is supposed to take place between midnight 00:00 to 04:00. In the eastern part of North America the reception is poor compared to central and western part of North America. Check the instruction manual for your watch for details.

Below is the spec listing of your watch.

I have Casio Module 4717,Can this Watch be use in INDIA

Hi, Once radio-controlled watches have been set to the relevant time zone, they always display the exact local time. All CASIO radio watches receive signals almost anywhere in Europe. Some models even receive signals in North America, parts of Canada and Mexico (the radio tower in Fort Collins sends signals for a radius of up to 3,200 km) and even in Japan or China. Here you can learn about the technology that makes it possible, and about how your watch picks up the time. To make sure if you are in the radius pls visit to URL below.. http://www.casio-radio-controlled.com/euro/technology/

Casio Wave Ceptor #3054

I have the same watch and thought I had the same problem. Casio's website actually DOES have the downloadable manual for this watch in their Support section, though it's kind of burried in their "Watch Manual Archives" section. Try to copy this address into your browser: http://world.casio.com/wat/download/en/manual/ FYI, the manual number you'll need to search for is shown in a rectangle on the back of the watch. In my case it was # 3054. When I downloaded the manual and read it, I learned how to confirm auto-updating is activated, and how to do manual updating. In my case, I was trying it from too far inside my house with a weak signal. When I set all of the settings as described and placed the watch in the window with 12:00 pointing outside as shown in their diagrams, the manual update feature worked like a champ. I also learned about a couple of other neat features hidden in the watch. Too bad the manual didn't come with the watch when I bought it; it would have saved me lots of frustration. Hope this helps you!
