Question about Hasselblad 503CXI Medium Format Camera

Open Question

Hi, I have detached the magazine on my Hasselblad and now I cannot put it back on. The pin on the lower right will not connect to the body, as the receiving part is somehow locked. I used to be able to gently rest the magazine on the hinges and then gently get the magazine into position and connect the two parts. Do you know what I could do to fix it? Regards, Johan

Hi I have a Hasselblad H1 the highlights are suddenly "crazed" any idea what could be causing this?

I'm not used to Hasselblad. (Out of reach) I wonder if the thing you call crazed is blinking of the highlights, indicating you over blown that part of the picture. It is your decision, if you leave the overblown parts as they are, or retake the picture one or a few stops lower.

Put thule hinge back on

Hi Jonathan, based on the date of your Q, you may have already moved on. For what it's worth... I have the Atlantis 1600, structure is identical, cubic feet size is different. When you state "put Thule hinge back on" I am presuming you're referring to the entire upper segment of the carrier as the hinges are only pins riveted to the upper carcass. These pins seat in the lower carcass latches (also riveted) when the lid is closed. If the lower latches are obstructing the pins from seating, it means the latches are locked -- simply insert your key and unlock them. The pins (hinges) will function normally again.

If you're referring to actually attaching the pins to the upper carcass, then I would use a 3/16" medium length rivet ensuring that you use a washer on the inside (where the rivet expands) to add the binding power that the carcass body will not.

I have a hasselblad 503cx. when i hit the shutter button, the back part of the lens opens (where the film is) but the lens shutter is closed. when i let go, the lens opens and the back closes.

The proper order of exposure should be:

Curtain opens/Lense stops down (unless wide open)
Lense shutter closes
When releasing button, curtain closes
When winding, lense shutter opens

If this isn't what's happening, something is wrong. There is only a simple mechanical screw connection between body and lense, so it'd have to be an issue with the gears in the body.

I have a Hasselblad 500c/m with the lens stuck on the body and I not turn the shutter knob. Help!

Get the back off the camera, make sure you can see inside the camera and locate a chrome screw in the middle below the lens.
Turn it right to align the locater slot of lens and body. Be very careful and do not use to much force. If you turn it enougn you can use the release button an unscrew the lens by turning it anti-clockwise.

I can not get the Magazine to release. I see where it say's Manual Magazine realease, but can't tell what to do. Please help Darrell Mack

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check that the speaker cables are not damaged and the connections are secure. Reduce the output level from any external components connected to the music center. Make sure the audio input cable is firmly seated in the music center SPEAKER ZONE 1 jack and the multi-pin connector on the other end is firmly seated in the Accustoms module AUDIO INPUT jack. Check the cables connecting the Jewel Cube TM speakers to the Accustoms module. To restore communication between the music center and the speakers turn the music center off for ten seconds, then on again. Check the connections for any external components. Make sure to select the correct source for the desired input. Be sure the CD is placed correctly, label-side up, in the magazine, and the magazine is inserted properly in the music center. Increase the volume. Check to see if MUTE is lit on the display. If it is, press the MUTE button on the remote control to un-mute the sound. Disconnect any headphones. Connect the FM and AM antennae. Check to see if the play symbol in the display is lit. After pressing the CD key, wait a few seconds before pressing PLAY. Make sure the magazine is properly inserted. Check to see if there is a disc in the magazine, label-side up. Display shows a flashing box for a disc that is label-side down or cannot be read. There may be dirt or dust on the CD. If so, clean the CD. Eject the magazine and try loading the CD again. A display message “E01” indicates a mechanical error. Unplug the music center. Reconnect power and try again. If “E01” reappears, call customer service.

If the CD stuck again as you stated in your earlier comments, then you need to use a small and long screwdriver to reach the notch. Now turn the media center upside down so that the "Manual Magazine Release" is in your upper right hand. Locate the two small rectangular "Open Slots" on the side. You need to use the top slot. Use the screwdriver and push the little "U" or "Y" Shaped metal upward which is just below the manual release. The magazine will come out.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Adapt a Hassie 500el/m to a Imacon ixpress back V 4.7

The Hasselblad ELM does not need adapting to use the Imacon or hasselblad digital back  the following backs fit on the ELM and can be triggered with a cable that should be supplied with the back.
Hasselblad V96c 16mp square format back  Hasselblad CFV 16mp square format back with CF slot Hasselblad CFVII 16mp square format back with CF slot + larger screen
the following backs will work but need to have a V adapter plate fitted to the back
96c 16mp square format back  132c 22mp 645 format back  528c 22mp 645 format back with Multishot option CF-22 22mp 645 format back with CF slot CF-22 MS 22mp 645 format back with CF slot & Multishot option CF-39 39mp 645 format back with CF slot CF-39 MS 39mp 645 format back with CF slot & Multishot option

When fitting and digital back to an older camera the best advice is to get the camera body serviced to ensure that the back mount is correct as the digital backs require a better fit than the film backs did. If the mount is off it will cause back or front focus.

Hasselblad 555ELD

I would check the top latch plate first. They do have a tendency to become loose. The latch points at the base could be slightly bent too.

Which Hasselblad?

There were several versions of the 500C/M as production was over many years. The 501C had all the latest revisions of the 500 C/M series to make it the better choice. You'll get more $ for the 501 for this reason. Later versions of the 500C/M had a much better coil spring to control the mirror for starters. Unless you are going to use this camera for daily professional use, either would be a reliable camera. A good way to check the amount of use on any Hasselblad is to look at the back of the camera where the film magazine mounts. A good solid black with no shiny spots on the plate would indicate little use. There are raised lines around the aux. shutter opening that will wear as film back are removed and replaced.
