When you put it back together the volume selector (on the board) was all the way to the right and the volume slider (on the case) was all the way to the left which won't allow you to turn the volume up all the way. if this is not the case let me know @

My ds lite is broken from the hinges

You need a new case, fiddling with it whilst the hinges are broken can lead to broken top screen speakers/mic and wifi capability

Cases are on ebay and various other web sites for 10-20

Ds lite top screen

Yes its fixable but it depends on what has broken.
There are two possibilities the small barrel hinge has broken, this is just a case of fitting a new one by opening the case, unscrew the light and gently pulling the top of the case away till you can change the barrel hinge.
The other one is the case has broken and is not holding the barrel hinge, can bodge it with some glue sometimes but most often you need a new case.

Ds touch screen and main screen not working - connectors broken

if you would have sent it to me first I would have replaced the case for you and you wouldn't have had these problems, but I can still help you out. I have a white nintendo DS lite in stock that I had to replace the bottom lcd display in. I will ship to you for $90 and if you are feeling adventurous send me your parts and I will take off $10 since I have no clue what is broken and what is not, but to me it sounds like the bottom lcd, touch screen , and circuit board are trash.
Thanks

Hinge problem

There out it is nothing like a broken hinge only repair solution, the only way to get it repaired is to buy a new replacement shell and replace the broken parts or the whole shell, but some cheap shells wont last and will broke again so read reviews. And if you are not too skilled be careful when replacing or you can get your DS more damaged.

The best is to find a good case broken DS, like water damage etc. to get only the original plastic parts. I should love to have to buy only the broken parts needed but you have to buy the whole thing.

Fualt on DS

By putting the case together you've short circuit the black wire with the powerconnector. Open the bottom case and check the wire. Check Fuses F1 and F2. 99,9% change that one of them is blown out. Replacements can be found on the Internet

Broken top screen (original DS)

Replying to the first post:
If you have broken the ribbon cable, which is highly likely if you have broken the hinge, then the DS will not work. It does not turn on unless there is a connection to both screens. You will need to buy a new ribbon cable for it:
A useful site I found is: www.consoleparts4u.co.uk

Once you replace this then it should work for you.

Repling to th second post:

I would recommend buying a new case for it at least because the ribbon cable will break if left broken due to the strain on it.

The more expensive but easier option is to buy a new one.

Hope this helps,

Mowcius

Nintendo DS Lite top screen broke on one side

The only way you can repair this properly is to replace the casing with a new one... the hinge is a common problem and over 90% of my customers on the DS and DS Lite need a new case due to broken hinges. Once the plastic bit has broken then it will only get worse. The small bit that you say fell out was the actual hinge itself (a small black part with a silver end that twists and locks your console into place when open). Hope that helps!
