Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

2 Answers

My Whirlpool washing machine model AWO 3761/5 stops mid cycle. The indicator shows FH water tap closed. I have had this checked and there is still a flow of water. All electrical connections etc have been tested and seem to be ok.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

FH error is displayed when the control detects no water entering the machine. To clear this error press and hold the PAUSE/CANCEL button twice. You can then check if the water inlet valve is fine and not clogged with foreign particles, try to clean it. If the water inlet valve appears to be fine then check if the pressure switch hose is properly connected to the pressure switch & tub. Please get back to me if you have any questions.

Hi, most likely you have a faulty water flow sensor, or a faulty input on that sensor to the micro,(The brain) or maybe even both. Also check connections to sensor/Water inlet
Sometimes the valve may stick, this requires removal and soaking in a bath of penetrating fluid or similar or replacement of the inlet valve.

This may indicate the beginning of a larger problem to come, your micro may have been power spiked, this is the most common cause.
Due to to the nature and possibility of "Other"potential problems to come, you really should get this unit attended to by a professional, unless you have a service manual and specialised knowledge.
My advise is to contact Whirlpool and get a technician to call, now when there, simply ask for a "Quote" as to what he thinks it is is and how much it will cost. This way you can make an informed decision as to what to do.

Modle AWO 9561 In the second cycle the machine shows F&H error in the display, machine will not carry on. Even when switching off, same error appears.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Whirlpool's 'FH' stands for 'no water inlet'. Presumably the second cycle is rinsing (?) and that requires cold water as opposed to hot for the first (wash) cycle.

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

I have a awo 3761/5/s model and it keeps coming up on the display fh and the lights flash what does this mean

Unfortunately there are so many abriviations that one cant keep up.(not standardised). Best thing to do is do a manual check. Switch water off and check the filter. Clean it. Next, do a check and confirm that the drain pump is free of obstruction and free to turn.(loose). Get motor to spin by selecting spin and see if it does. If all those checks work out, it should function.

Water tap closed

The FH code indicates it is not detecting water fill at the flow meter. Since you say that the washer is filling okay, I would check the wiring between the flowmeter and the control board. A common cause of this problem on this machine is the wiring harness jiggling loose. Unplug and reseat the wiring harness and see if it clears up the problem. Also look for and clean out any corrosion build-up where the harness plugs in. Hope this helped and best wishes.

After 27 minutes into wash get an FH error

The FH code on the Whirlpool Duet washers indicates that the unit is not detecting water fill at the flowmeter. The flowmeter is sits right in front of the water inlet valve and is attached via a hose and is off to the left of the central control unit (ccu). If the washer seems to be filling alright, check out the wiring from the flowmeter to the control unit. Make sure all connections are clean and tight. These connections have been known to jiggle loose and cause this code. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Whirlpool awo 3761/5/s

have you checked that there is not a blockage in the outlet pipe or that it is not kinked?sometimes if the pipe is lying to low (ie creating a u-bend) this can prevent water getting in & out & so the machine interprets it as either taps off or the pump needs cleaned (this has happened to me numerous times :) )
