Well whirlpool has good parts supply and you can find a dealer close by probably ,but what the board does is time things on and off and does it with the sensor input, termostat, defrost cycle timer and so on. So even if you replace the board you could very well have the same problem because a sensor or thermostat isn't giving the board what it needs. Check out the inputs to the board to see if you can find any physical issues with them or check the voltage inputs to see if you are getting a reading on each. The thermostat is what turns it off and on most of the time so you could have a bad thermostat and the fridge will only cycle if the temp is below the set temp, you are just bypassing that input when doing a direct connect

Condenser fan not working after lightning strike? Is there a relay for the fan or does the mother board control fan operation directly? Cold Spot 106.5.......

This fan should operate whenever the compressor operates. The fan does not have a relay and maybe connected to the same power that operates the compressor.

Trying to replace the start relay on my Roper refrigerator.

depending on the model and the part # of the ptc overload relay will tell you how to wire it back as was,on some ptc O/L's there are spaces on the component where you just plug it on piggyback to this ptc,if not then all you do is wire the capacitor in parallel to the 2 power pins on the compressor, the cap doesn't actually start or run the units compressor, its there to help suppress the arcs on the relay when it starts, the compressor will operate without this capacitor

I have a whirpool S/S frig that is not cooling or freezing. Model number ED5GTNXMQ00. the compressor appears to be running, there is no ice buildup behind the freezer panel, fans are running, power is on...

If you are not very familiar with the sound of a running compressor, the condenser fan may fool you into thinking that it is the compressor running. If you know how to troubleshoot, check the status of the compressor. If it is not running, check the starting relay and the capacitor. You may have to replace one or both of them.

Noise problem related to dim pulsating light

this is caused by the motherboard on this model, have replaced many lately, what happens is when a light bulb in the refrige compartment burns out it creates a surge and burns this circuit board, the clicking is a relay on this board trying to latch, but when the board is defective it cant, when you remove this board it will have a burnt spot on the boards circuit trace and a discolored spot on the case holding it

My top freezer of my refrigerator was constantly running and now there is no cool air in the freezer (my freezer is not working) & i have had to turn up the temperature in the refrigerator to keep...

This is a sign that the defrost timer located inside the fresh food compartment is not working. I want you to try to locate it and put a regular flathead screw driver through a small opening that allows you to turn it clockwise until you hear the compressor stop. Leave it like that and after about 20 to 30 minutes if it does not turn itself back on then the part needs replaced. Visit my site and enter model number GTS22WCP into the model search feature. If you have trouble then you can email me and I will send you a hyperlink, Thanks, Sea Breeze Email>>> appliancepartsse@yahoo.com Site>>> http://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/ click on diagram Diagram 11275505 on left of screen and the part is shown as 257 in the photo

This is directly from the manual. You can download it from:

The link is at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for using Fixya. A "Fixya" rating would be appreciated.

I have a Sky box Model mbv1976aap series 10. It is complete but not working. I think it is the overload switch on the compressor as it arcs every time I plug it in. I don't want to fix it but I will sell parts for half price of parts direct website. I can be reached at scrapjunky@cox.net. I have dispensers, cooling fan, circuit boards, what do you need?

Side by side stopped working but clicling noises every second two.

Read, this model posted has a main board in back that controls the refer. Your problem sounds like the overload and relay on the compressor but you need to do a test to verify. On the main board in back there is a blue harness, 3 pronged, that is marked line, defr and comp. Lower left hand corner. You need to get a jumper wire with alligator clips and with the plug out, jump line to comp. Now plug it back in, this will send 120V directly to the compressor. See if it starts. If not and it does it clicking thing, chances are it's the overload and relay, or the compressor itself. You have five years warranty on the compresser. If it starts, it's the board it's the board giving you the problem. This of course is for the GSH model posted...Catriver..post back.
