Question about Dualit 31213 3Slice Toaster

1 Answer

It has completely stopped working - none of the elements heat and the light does not come on. I've tested the fuse in the plug and it is working. The red light does not come on when I turn the timer dial. One day it was working, the next it wasn't. Nothing untoward had happened to it, no bread burnt in it or anything got stuck in it. Can It be mended? It's about 12 years old.

The control panel is the most likely cause.

SOURCE: Dualit combi heating element 12/95

All the element's are available on e-bay u.k. for about 6.00 gbp. Alternativley you may be able to repair it. Put the toaster on it's side with the bottom facing towards you and the knobs on the top. Remove the crumb tray and then remove the bottom (usually the screws are located in the feet). There may be one more visible screw remove that too, then you will see a rail at the bottom that secures the element's in place. Loosen off the nuts at each end and slide the rail down, undo the two bolt's feeding the power to the element's and slide the element out.Go over it with a continuity meter and see where it's broken then move the element wire about to bridge the circuit.Test it again and reassemble. I repaired mine this way.Or, simply replace the element using the instructions above.Easy!

Iron shark g1468n doesn't work

If it's completely dead (no lights or anything) then check the fuse in the plug by placing a new one in (same rating, probably 13 amp) and testing. If it's not that then suspect either the heat control (thermostat) or the element. These aren't your basic DIY things to mess with unless you know what you are doing.

My toaster has suddenly stopped working - none of the heating elements come on - I have changed the plug fuse but it is still not working at all - it just suddenly stopped.

I can only imagine one of the elements has broke and so the current can no longer flow.
check all the elements while unplugged to find a break.

not sure if this can be repaired.

the only other thing would be the thermostat is defective.

I hope this was useful.

Our two heat dishes stopped working a few days apart. The power light comes on but the heat does not come on. Is there a fuse to replace or did they both burnout the heating element?

Can you use a continuity checker, and get into the inside of the control panel cover?

You need to check continuity, from one side of the plug, in thru the switch, thermostat, and limit device, thru the element, and back to the others side of the plug--

Can you do that?

Let me know how your continuity testing goes, and get back with me, on what you find.

None of the top stove or oven elements work. Control lights come on but nothing is heating up at all. (GE JBP80)

Hi,

The control is operated by 120 volts and the heating elements work off of 240 volts.

The most logical reason for your not heating (if there is none of the burners working) would be that one of the sides of the circuit is broken. Most likely this loss has occurred at the circuit breaker, try turning the breaker off completely and back on.

If this does not resolve the problem then the power loss may be a broken wire inside the range.

It is best if someone knowledgeable in electricity with a good meter does the testing beyond the breaker or fuse in the home.

Milwaukee 8977 - 20 Variable Temperature Heat Gun blows air but no heat. how do you troubleshoot the circuit board or the heating element?

With out the thing plugged in with an OHM meter the heting element can be checked with the nose removed. Most of the time once the nose is removed the problem is easy to see the end is burnt off the element connection. Remake the connection reinstall the nose and test. The heating element runns right off the switch and the connection there is easy to see with the handle opened. This is simple unit and wires burnt off from being too hot is almost always the problem. look it over carfully and the problem will be seen.

GE Front loader doesn't dry clothes completely.

Hello there:
f yourdryer won't heat up, it's possible that it is not being supplied withthe proper voltage. Here are three ways to make sure power is gettingto your dryer: First, make sure your dryer is plugged in. Next, checkthe circuit breaker panel to make sure all the circuit breakers are inthe correct positions. Finally, check to make sure no fuses in yourfuse panel are blown. Any of these could explain why power is notgetting to your dryer.

dryer_heating-element.jpg Heating Element

It is possible that your dryer isn't heating because its heatingelement is defective. Heating elements are irrepairable. If yours hasceased to function properly, you will have to replace it. Open yourdryer's cabinet and locate the heating element so that you can test it.
dryer_thermal-fuse.jpg Thermal Fuse

Another possible cause for a dryer not heating up could be attributedto a faulty thermal fuse. Once a dryer's thermal fuse has blown, it isno longer of any use. If your dryer's fuse is blown, you will have toreplace it. Open up your dryer's cabinet and locate its thermal fuse sothat you can test it.
dryer_thermostat.jpg Thermostat

If any of your dryer's thermostats have become defective, they could bethe reason that your dryer is not heating. Open up your dryer's cabinetand test each of your dryer's thermostats. If any are faulty, replacethem.
dryer_timer.jpg Timer motor

A defective timer motor could also cause your dryer to not heat up.Test your dryer's timer motor. If it is no longer functioning as itshould, replace either the entire motor assembly, or just its motor.

We replaced our heating element on model number 110.63022101 and now nothing will turn on. The light won't even come on. We have flipped both breakers already with no success. Could something be wrong...

If the dryer worked before replacing the heating element .

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)This I would check first....Good luck Hope this helps you out

Dear Paireyes,

Things that can stop electric dryer from heating are as listed: house fuse or breaker, heating element, burnt wire, thermostat, thermal fuse (not all models), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug

To check various points here are the simple tips:
  1. To check the thermal fuse - You can bypass the thermal fuse (just connect the 2 wires together) for testing purposes only.
  2. To check the thermal cut-out - You can bypass the thermal cut-out (just connect the 2 wires together) for testing purposes only.
  3. To check the thermostats for continuity - - You can bypass the thermostat (just connect the 2 wires together) for testing purposes only.
  4. To check the Element: Try removing element and physically looking at the element wire for a break in the wire.

Here is the link for the dryer and how to disassemble the dryer along with the images:

Let me know if that helps. All the best :)

Gevalia CM-500 12 cup problem.

Underneath the hot pad that the carafe sits on, there are two thermal fuses that are inside tubes that are clamped to the heating element with spring clamps.

Remove the bottom of the unit (5 screws), unclamp the thermal fuse tubes, slide the tubes to one side and check the each fuse with an ohmmeter. If one of them is open, that's your problem.
