Format the memory stick in the camera. I'm afraid I can't give you exact instructions for doing so since you didn't specify the model of your camera, but there should be a "Format" entry somewhere in the Setup menu.

There is a red exclamation point on the camera screen that won't go away. What is the problem?

Just got one of these cameras from a charity shop and after only a short use same problem.
Try connecting camera to PC as an external drive and delete (all) files..... This, too, may not work, in which case reformat the whole drive representing the camera - quick format will probably do.
Once you take a photo the directory path: DCIM/100IMAGE will be recreated.
I'd recommend reformatting quite regularly - after each time you download the photos off the camera.

I can't access anymore DCIM and MISC folders on my camera after deleting them using my laptop, is it possible to solve that problem?

If you can't access pictures anymore on your camera, how can you see your photos on your camera?
If you already have the pictures downloaded on your computer (which you should have done before starting to delete anything) then you should format the card in the camera. In general you shouldn't do any writing to the card on the computer, leaving it all to the camera.

You don't need to download anything. Just format the memory card to recreate the DCIM folder.

DCIM folder has got deleted, what do I do ? MY DSC-H20 was infected with viruses, I scannerd it with AVAST and selected the option of deleting the infected files from the system. antivirus apparently...

If all your images are backed up on your computer, just format the media card IN THE CAMERA, and that should re-set everything for you when next you take a photo.

I accidentally deleted my DCIM and MISC folder from my memory card ... I can't see the pictures I take .... how can I fix this mess!!!! Please help

Use software like PhotoRescue. Unless the photos were erased and then written over, they're probably still there. I used un-delete recovery software and it found my photos even after I had formatted the card and used it again to take more photos.

I know it's a late reply but other people may want to know you can find and recover deleted photos.

Missing dcim.exe file

Hi! I had same problem and fix it no time. Well this is trick! virus hide dcim folder and make only visible dcim.exe. 1. so anti-virus will delete that virus "dcim.exe" (or can you) 2. go to start/run and type cmd 3. there you type "attrib -s -h e:dcim" (assuming that your cam is assigned e:) Now go to My Computer and DCIM shoud be there!!

Not able to 'delete' a picture from my Lumix TZ3

Sounds like a MobileMate quirk Tanya. Use your USB cable connection to your PC/Camera interface and delete pics that way too see if this funny goes away.

If it does, and I believe it will, then it is a SanDisk issue not revising the File Allocation Table(FAT) after deleting the Pic File on the mem card.

You could also find out if this is just an SDHC SD card reader issue by using an older less dense standard 1 or 2Meg non-SDHC mem card in the reader and see if issue goes away.

The fallback of course to view and delete the pics on the camera before download, or download pics then note which pic file numbers you want deleted after viewing on PC, then put SD card back in camera and delete them there.

Another option for trial, is to cut and paste the whole DCIM folder, or sub pic folder to your PC from off the SD card using the card reader. The camera automatically generates subfolders under the DCIM folder if you completely remove(deleting by a cut or move), when you take your first picture on a camera with a DCIM but not sub pic folder. Try this first and I think you will find all pics will be deleted from camera that are in a subfolder under DCIM. If not, then cut or move the whole DCIM folder and create a new DCIM(empty) folder on the SD card using the PC and card reader. Of course using this method you cannot selective delete individual pics from the mem card. You would be deleting them all after the Folder cut or move from the SD card.

Sony cyber-shot dsc-h2

hi,

Its simple..
After connecting USB to the laptop, a window will appear.
In that window, "select files to open".
It will open the DCIM.click and open the DCIM folder you wil find 101MSDCF folder.(for e.g.F:\DCIM\101MSDCF)
Select and delete all photos.

I did the same and i was able to get back memory.
I dont know whether its standard way of deleting photos from memory stick. Any support guys from sony camera can comment on it....

thanks
