Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer
First, the technician bypassed the lid switch which is a safety feature. The lid switch should be repaired / replaced -- this keeps the machine from spinning when the lid is up.
Secondly, the likely cuase of the machine overfilling is a malfunctioining water-level sensing sub-system. This system has a tube run from the bottom of the tub to a diaphragm pressure switch -- this switch shuts off the water inlet when the water gets to the proper level. The tube may be loose / disconnected / leaking, or the pressure switch may have loose conections or may be faulty.
