Question about E-Machines Computers & Internet

1 Answer

So I have a Emachine t2984 model... It was working perfectly till out of nowhere I heard two beeping sounds coming out the computer then CPU shut completely off. So I went to tried to turn it back on but nothing except for the same two beeping sounds. So I figured it must of been an overheating safety thing it does, which it had never done before. So I unplugged everything and opened it up to let it cool off and realize that the fans were extremely dirty! So i decided to clean the inside of the computer and unplugged the fans and clean them with extremely caution. I finally cleaned the fans and also cleaned the big metal

You have done the right thing by cleaning the dust from your computers fans you should continue cleaning the dust from your computer as dust will cause static which can cause a computer lots of unforseen problems
the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM is securely seated
test or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive make sure the connections are secure including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your
((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps keep up the good work

I agree...sounds like a power supply problem. Typically a bad power supply will not damage the motherboard. It should still be functional.

Cant boot my emachine 2984

Did you check the CMOS battery and the CPU fan. Those are two things that if aren't working the way they should be, then some computers will not boot up. Try this first then post a response if you still can't get it working.

I have an emachine T2984 that won't boot. No noise of any kind. I had another emachine T2625 that was working. I took the power supply out of the T2984 (that wouldn't boot) and put it in the T2625 and it...

Power supply sounds fine. If the pc won't power up it could be your motherboard. If the pc is powering up and you get a 'no signal' on your monitor it could be your gpu.

no sounds or beeps rules out the hard drive, at this point it's either the power supply, motherboard, or cpu. Have you tried the power supply in a different machine? Also, eyeball the motherboard, specifically the capacitors, look for any that have bulges on the top.

Upgrade to a new motherboard?

I think there may be another issue.. It could be the power supply.. Have you tried a new one?

Have you installed any additional ram lately?

You can use the old XP software with a new motherboard, but it can be a pain in the **** to set-up if it is the OEM version of Windows, or a Recovery Disk that came with your machine..

What you could do, if you bought another motherboard, find someone with a Genuine Windows XP disk, and use your Product Key to install it..
