Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Frigidaire Combo Washer/Dryer fex831cs0. There was a clunking noise in the dryer, now it has stopped. Is it the belt? If so is it hard to change?

This can be due to the belt failing and hitting against to produce the noise or even if the main motor had failed.
You will need to check inside the washer to confirm the observations.
the belt can be changed easily once you have taken out the broken one , buy the same size according to the sample . It can be rolled into the main pulley and then after aligning with the motor pulley manually turn the pulley as the belt will be dragged into the slot.

Hello friend, we appreciate your post!

It appears you have a laundry center FEX831CS0 and that your dryer is not working. Can you provide me more specific details? Is your dryer not heating, not turning on, or not completing a cycle? For instance did you notice any strange functions or odd noises prior to this issue? With this information I can better address the issue at hand. Thank you - Matt

Frigidaire Washer/Dryer Combo FEX831CS0 won't work

Hello Laura Clark - Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, you possibly have a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Try setting the cycle to spin only and verify if water pumps out. If it does not, the unit could possibly be experiencing an issue with the pump, door lock assembly or timer. Since it is such a complex unit, I suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately

It leaks water after its about half full does it have a hole in the tub?

I doubt if the tub has a hole in it, BUT the increased pressure and weight of the half filled tub could force water past a damaged washer. How did the washer get damaged, probably by the spin bearing starting to fail.

Items 21 and 26 are the parts that I would suspect.

I have a frigidaire stackable washer/dryer model number FEx831cs0. The washer is working just find but the dryer for a few weeks has been making the worst screeching sounding in the world. I am not sure if...

A loose belt often makes a squeak that pulsates with the clothes hitting the paddles in the drum. It's probably the upper drum glide or rear bearing. If it's a constant screech coming from the front, it's probably the glide. If the noise seems to be in the back, suspect the bearing. You might check for a sock or something small that is stuck somewhere between the drum and the dryer.

Bearing kit: http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Drum-Bearing-Kit/1851?modelNumber=FEX831CS0

Neither are very difficult to repair.

Frigidaire combo washer/dryer screws inside come off

The drum shaft came loose from drum. You can YouTube it for procedure of disassembly of dryer. Remount shaft, if screws are bad may need new shaft with screws, make sure it is tight to drum. While you have it apart you can clean out lint.
