Question about Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

My Kodak m1093 stops charing in 5 minutes on a new battery. The old battery was dropped due to i thinked it goes dead but that was an lens error that i fixed later. when i used a new branded battery, it charges it only for a few minutes but if i remove and reinsert the battery while charing, it continues for more 5 minutes. i have to remove battery 10-15 times to charge it fully. I will never buy from such a idiot company whos camera cannot tell what error it is facing like lens error or battery problem. Previously i had a very good time with this camera with stock battery.

Hello, try putting in more expensive re chargeables. And if that doesnt work, get yourself a discharger. This machine discharges the batteries safely and allows them to fully charge to their full potential. There are more stronger batteries coming out every week, just try a couple and see how you go. Also have you tried using a different charger? Perhaps the charger may not be 100% all of these things make a difference. I hope I have helped you.

My Kodak m1093 is will not turn on.

I don't know the answer but I do know there are a multitude of things that can cause it. 1. being the batteries are old and no longer can hold a charge. That can happen just from sitting. 2. The wrong batteries were used in it. Rechargeable triple or double A's aren't the same as standard triple or double A's.
3. The batteries were aloud to run empty and sat empty for a long period of time. (just running them to the point were they die can cause problems) Some batteries act wrong when there low sending out spikes of high amps.
4. A magnet touching the camera or a good jolt of static electricity can ruin it.
I would try a new set of batteries first. If you have some or have a friend who has some just to test it would be handy.
Also you could try plugging it into your PC the power from the PC may close the lens at least but DO NOT FORCE IT CLOSED, that can easily ruin it.
I did have this happen before but in my attempts to fix it I made it irreparable. it's was a bummer. I liked mine too.
Good luck

Kodak m1093 is turns on, lens comes out and opens, immediately turns back off. Battery is charged fully.

It's most likely that your camera has a lens error, this is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck lenses are probably the most common reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair chance of recovering use of your camera again

The fault is commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply become dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse then contact the Kodak service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed the cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose by trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault. Although the article mentions Canon a few times, the advice applies equally to all cameras with lens errors and is not model-specific.

If the link doesn't work then cut and paste the following address into your browser:-

Good luck, I hope you manage to use this information to fix your camera. Please take a moment to rate the free answer I have provided for you and any testimonial which you might wish to add is always welcome!

Hello, My camera M1093 IS suddenly will open when I hit the power button only to close immediately. The screen comes on for a second and then it closes. I ordered a new battery thinking that may be the...

Could be something stopping the lens to go out all the way. It will automatically retract and turn off if anything prevents it from extending. It could be the motor or whatever but I would definitely contact kodak. Also could be something like a short or software malfunction but it sounds like a problem with the lens not being able to extend fully out.

Kodak m893IS is not turning on....the camera was dropped by accident but it wasn't dropped from high it was only like 2 feet...after it was dropped it worked fine for the next 5 minutes but then it turned...

You may have bent the camera's lens housing, which will require professional repair, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinsert them in the camera. This cleaning cures the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

Lens won't retract, power on button makes 'on' sound, blinks blue briefly, and then goes off. Picture screen quickly blinks white, than goes dark. Camera was carried around without a case in my pocket...

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts, or it could be something more serious and expensive. First try removing the batteries and cleaning the camera contacts with a small metal brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. If that doesn't fix the problem, check the Kodak Help Center by clicking on the link below. It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
