Question about Computers & Internet
Your dvd player/recorder manual will have a list of the dvd discs that can be used on it. If the r/w dvd discs that you have are not on that list then there is really nothing that you can do about it other than making sure to purchase only the listed r/w dvd discs. The 16x is only an indication of the maximum write speed of the disc. There would be no problem writing to it at speeds less than 16x providing it is on the approved list. For example, my LG player/recorder lists the following for "Recordable and Playable Discs"
DVD-RW (Digital Video Disc - ReWriteable)
DVD-R (Digital Video Disc - Recordable)
DVD+RW (Digital Video Disc - ReWriteable)
DVD+R (Digital Video Disc + Recordable)
Note: If a DVD-RW or DVD+RW disc is recorded using a personal computer or other DVD recorder, it will not be recognised for format other than on the personal computer or the original DVD recorder. In other words, if you are to format a DVD disc, it must be completely blank. Also, once recording is complete, the DVD disc must be finalized if it is to be played on any other player or personal computer. Finalization is not required while the disc is being used on the original player/recorder which facilitates the recording on a single disc many different programs or events.
