I would think that you would hook your VGA male into your computer and would probably choose the s-video for video and us the red and white for left and right sound, if you didn't have s-video, you could se the yello for your video. i don't understand the F4 thing. Is that something special for the adaptor? Wouldn't you just check in device manager to make sure your onboard video and audio are enabled and working correctly? t shouldn'te any different than hookin up a monitor and the mputer won't know the difference.

VGA is digital and RCA is analog. Might not work unless you get a converter or something.

How do I connect a presario CQ60-211ds to a Philips 42pfl3704d/f7

Hi, I don't know if you have sorted it out, but here goes.
I have a slightly different model to you, but mine has a HDMI output and my TV also has HDMI, just connect the 2 together whith a cheap HDMI cable, not need to spend a fortune and you should be sorted. There is another way and that is using the monitor ( VGA Connector ), but I don't think your TV has a pc input. I have just found this while typing.

Give it a read but basically the only connection you can use is hdmi unless you have a dvi connector on you laptop.

I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse and left the laptop near the TV so i can use it from my armchair.

Let me know if this has helped.

I have a laptop and a tv. I would like to hook my laptop up to the tv. The tv does not have a slot for a VGA CABLE and my laptop does not have a slot for an RCA CABLE. What can I do to connect the two?

You need an Video out, adapter cable, for your model Laptop, IF yours indeed does have the ability to TV out, the "output" is "Composite Video" and goes into the Composite Video "IN" on the TV. Audio is taken from Line Out in laptop & goes to AV audio in, via a Phono Jack to RCA converter plug. Also it must have correct drivers and be enabled and have desktop extended to the TV either Cloned or Spanned.
Usually one connects up to the TV, powers TV on & then Turn your laptop on.
You may have a Yellow RCA socket on the back/side of your laptop, otherwise you have to get a converter cable.

Connect Laptop to TV

It depends on what kind of TV you have. If you have a flat-panel LCD or plasma TV, it may have a VGA connection already installed. If that is the case, all you need is a standard VGA cable to connect from your notebook to your TV.

If you have a TV without a VGA connection you will need a scan converter to convert your signal from VGA to RCA or composite video signal. These can be purchased online or from electronics stores like Radio Shack. You plug your VGA connection from the computer to the scan converter, then RCA or composite video cables from the converter to the TV.

Hope this helps. Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Ati mobility radeon 9000 agp

hi camperd55,

I believe you have the right adapter cable. According to my knowledge the Radeon 9000 supports TV output via RCA (check http://ati.amd.com/products/MobilityRadeon9000/index.html:" Mobility™ Radeon™ 9000 provides the highest quality output support for DVI-I, TV and CRTs.")

Firstly, it would be a good idea to make sure your TV has the 3 RCA jacks into which you will insert the adapter cable's 3 RCA connectors according to the colors of the connectors and jacks.

Secondly, if your laptop has a VGA port, you're set to connect your laptop to your TV, no hustles. If your laptop doesn't have a VGA port, your going to have to get a DVI-VGA converter, so you're setup will be something like: [laptop]-[DVI-VGA converter]-[VGA-3RCA adapter cable]-[TV's 3RCA jacks].

When you get your laptop's screen displaying on your TV, its merely a matter of using your recording equipment to record the TV's image as you would any program showing on the TV.

I hope this will help you solve your problem, thank you for using the FixYa service.

Kind regards
Henru : )
kind regards
