Question about Laguna Pressure - Flo Uvc Filter: Pf 2100

1 Answer

I could not get the lid on the PF2100, I tried the solution listed on this site. I was able to get it on with the rubber gasket by putting the lid upside down the putting the rubber gasket on the lid. Then I slid the bottom on to the lid. I was able to close the metal clamp. My problem is the filter leaks around he clamp. It is a few drip leaks. I have had this filter 3 years and this is the first time it leaked. Each year its always hard to get the lid on.

I tried it but I could not get the lid on my wife and I use all fours to get even pressure.
The only way I could get it on is doing the process upside down and forceing it to close but I get a few little drip leaks, I am wondering if the rubber gasket expanded somehow. When I put it in it fits but not tightly. This is the first year out of 3 that I could not get the lid on. this is also the first year I did not let the filter run all winter.

It sounds like the seal simply didn't seat properly. I recommend placing the rubber seal along the rim of the bottom canister and lowering the lid onto it vertically as uneven pressure can cause the seal to shift out of position. Make sure to check the rubber seal for pinched or hard spots and cracks as these will cause your leaking issue. It can take a few tries to get everything to sit just right. I always dread my bi-annual filter servicing for the same reason but with practice it becomes easier to get them to seat on the first shot. If you are running this filter on a freshwater pond with more than 800 gallons a very small amount of mineral oil (less than an 1/4 ounce) can be rubbed onto the seal to ease seating.

I am sorry to hear your still having trouble. Was the filter left in place when it wasn't running? Cold weather and no water circulation can cause ice to form inside and push things out of place with an amazing amount of force. If this is the case the case may be stretched out of shape very slightly. The gasket shouldn't expand but does have the capacity to shrink unevenly. You may wish to check with your local retailer to see if they offer a replacement seal as I am having trouble locating one online for you (If I do find one I will post the link here).
