Question about Laguna Pressure - Flo Uvc Filter: Pf 2100
It sounds like the seal simply didn't seat properly. I recommend placing the rubber seal along the rim of the bottom canister and lowering the lid onto it vertically as uneven pressure can cause the seal to shift out of position. Make sure to check the rubber seal for pinched or hard spots and cracks as these will cause your leaking issue. It can take a few tries to get everything to sit just right. I always dread my bi-annual filter servicing for the same reason but with practice it becomes easier to get them to seat on the first shot. If you are running this filter on a freshwater pond with more than 800 gallons a very small amount of mineral oil (less than an 1/4 ounce) can be rubbed onto the seal to ease seating.
