Question about Linksys WAG160N Wireless Router

Recently i am having issues with my WAG160N wireless... It is intermittent but most times when a windows update comes through my wireless turns to limited connectivity (yellow triangle). This never used to happen but has been happening a lot since the start of the year... please help

    all good the issue is now fixed - i ended up having to update the firmware as after a reboot of the router it did not want to connect to the gateway, with or without disc... after the firmware upgrade it is now working like clockwork.

Wireless is slow and intermittent

Sounds like you may still have a 'rootkit' virus. This is a virus that doesn't show up in a normal scan. You need to use a virus scanner that will start as soon as you turn on the computer. It does its scanning BEFORE your operating system boots up. Avast anti virus will do this as well as some others but you have to choose this option from the antivirus program. Another option is to take it to someone who can do this for you.

Hi, this happens when the router and the phone is running on different frequency. Try adjusting the frequency setting in your router.

My laptop is connected to linksys modem router wirelessly, model number WAG160N. The problem is it keeps being disconnected after 5 to 10mins or worst its only a matter or seconds that it will connect then...

make sure that you have no electronic devices especially cordless phones near the route(including baby monitors, halogen lamps etc)r. if that doesn't help, try changing the wireless connection setup from wi-fi protected setup to manual setup and change the wireless channel to 11.
you can do this by connecting your laptop to the router via an Ethernet cable first and then log on to the GUI page using the internet explorer.(default is if you need more instructions regarding how to do this, please reply to this post.

It's not unknown for this to occur, and usually it's caused by Windows updates. In any case, try re-installing the programs themselves to rule out a corrupt file.
