Remove the memory card from the camera, look along the one edge for a tiny switch, slide it towards the contacts to unlock the card. The switch that is in the furthest position from the contacts is in the locked position to prevent deletion of photographs, now! if the card is already in the unlocked position slide it back and forth to reset, if this fails replace the card.

Memory card is write protected ????

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Card locked how to unlock

SD type cards have a little switch on the card that can write protect or "lock" it. Take the card out of the camera and check this switch. To unlock it, it should be moved towards the edge of the card which has the electrical contacts.

There is also a software protection feature on some cameras, but this is used to protect a folder or individual picture from accidental deletion, not the whole memory. You set or release this protection from the camera menus.

If it is not that, then maybe it is having trouble with the size of the memory. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. Have you tried formatting the card in the camera? This would be one way of making sure that the camera can cope with the card, and it will also erase anything on the card.

It may have to be unlocked in the camera settings. My phone has a lock feature for photos, to prevent accidenta erasing.

Locked Memory crad

If you look on the side of the memory card, there is a little slider thing that locks it. If it is pushed up, slide it down or vice versa, that should unlock it. I think that it's a safety feature so that you can't delete photos accidently. I hope that this helps :)

"CARD IS PROTECTED"

are the images locked? on internal memory? or is it on a sd card?

(SD and MS cards feature a write lock. Unlock the card.)

also

This maybe useful to anyone whose "lock" toggle has fallen off. The plastic toggle is there to activate a switch in the device (like in digital camera) not on the card. To get the device to see the card as unlocked, just glue a small piece of plastic to fill the slot in the side of the SD card casing. You will loose the SD card lock feature but at least you will be able to write data to the card again Also, if you don't feel like glueing just stick a piece of tape on the side that will work too
