The LCD screen on my Canon SX10is does not work when it is open and flipped so that it is flush with the camera. This is strange because it does work when it is oepn and extended.
Also, when it is open and extended and then flipped for a self portrait, the image is upside down.

Close the LCD. Turn the camera off and then on. Look thorough the view finder and press the disp button to cycle through menus until it comes back to picture view. Open the LCD. If it doesn't show picture view, Press the disp button next to the menu button.
you should set it to a high shutter speed and f/stop also set your pictures to a RAW setting, if that made no sences let me know, and i'll say it abit more simple :)
Ok, you should know that there is a cable which connects the lcd monoitor to the circuitboard of the camera itself. it could be that the cable is just slightly pulled out.
I know that there is a setting as well which enables you to use either the viewfinder or the lcd. Look for a button which looks like a screen with a star in it, this will either activate the lcd or the viewfinder.
At the link below you will be able to download the manual for this camera for further troubleshooting.
As long as you donot make any scratch on the lens there is no problem. But I would advice you not to try out on delicate parts like lens of your camera. You can consult your Canon service centre. Generally lens cleaning solutions are available, you can use them, you can refer your camera manual. I have once used a slightly wet cotton, and my camera Canon SX110 is working fine without any issue. But better to take advice of Canon service centre.
