Question about Jandy Laars Lt 400,000 Btu Heater

1 Answer

Laars 400-LT: Do I need to remove the rear panel of the housing in order to replace the igniter ? How do I remove the back panel (it is up against the wall with only 6-8 inch clearance). I can not see but two Phillips screws at the bottom of the panel. I have tested the igniter from the front side leads with ohm meter and it reads zero. Can not see how to remove the igniter which in the manual exploed view seems to be at the back above the center gas tube. IF I must remove the back panel I will need to disconnect both the gas and water connections and rotate unit about 45 degrees. PJ

THe ignitor is right inside the front cabinet 2/3 of the way up from the bottom. It uses 2 wires and can be easily accessed in a matter of minutes.
There are no repairs short of a ful heat exchanger replacement that will ever require you to access the rear panel.

ABove is the link for the LT manual which shows where to find the ignitor.
The ignitor is part number 44 in the list.

I have a Laars Lite2 gas spa heater. I just replaced the Fenwal Electronic Eignition. When I turn the power on it starts the start-up process, the gas starts to flow, but no clicking of the igniter, just...

Check and make sure there is nothing fallen on the igniter or spider webs on it. Anything touching it can cause a problem. Make sure wire is not burnt going to igniter. Gas Valve will lock out after a time period if no Ignition.
