Upgrade to windows mobile 5.0

Hi hemiola, you mentioned Linux in a thread I have added to. I have a rx3715 that is working well and need to upgrade to windows mobile 5.0. I can't run a new version of the most essential software program I use. Does a Linux os work? If so can you please direct me to some info on it? Thanks

In conclusion and to other ipaq 3715 users there is currently no way to upgrade to wm5 on this device. There aren't any drivers for it that can be integrated into a standard wm5 install and the hardware isn't compatible with wm5 ram-rom requirements.
Sorry.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

CAN I UPGRADE MY I-MATE JAQ POCKET PC TO A NEWER MODEL OF AN I-MATE FOR FREE?

I assume you are talking about upgrading from Windows Mobile 5 to a higher version? Probably not, i-mate doesn't really support the phone anymore because of it's age. Not to mention the phone only has a 200 mhz processor and can't really support much more then WinMo 5.

Hi,

There are two things you can try:
1)remove the battery and reinstall it back
2)Go for a hard reset

How to install Windows XP for imate jasjar

Hi,
You Windows Mobile Pocket PC is desgined to run on Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system.
Windows XP cannot be run on ARM processors like the one you have on your Pocket PC (Intel PXA 270 aka Intel Bullverde).

However, you can can upgrade your Pocket PC from Windows Mobile 5 (that is provided by default) to Windows Mobile 6 (I did that myself on my own i-mate JasJar). To do this upgrade, you need to get some unofficial ROMs (the ones that are not built by the manufacturers, but by some developers who create their own ROMs according to requirements.) Sometimes, this cannot be safe, however, I have used one ROM for i-mate JasJar that upgraded it to Windows Mobile 6.0 making it better except for the problems as mentioned below:
  1. The RAM is now more eaten up, so you have to sometimes restart your device to use camera as the camera is a RAM intensive application and you device sometimes does not have that amount of RAM vacant
  2. Video calls are now no more supported
  3. Internet Telephony cannot be used
So, if you can sacrifice with these three flaws, you can upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 using this custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293902

Finally, as you now know that you cannot actually have Windows XP in your Pocket PC, there is an application that however, lets you have the look and feel of Windows XP on your Pocket PC. The earlier versions of this application were free, but the versions 4.0 onwards are now paid ($1 per user license). It is named 'XP Modification for Pocket PCs'. You can get it from the internet or from the vendor itself http://www.teamfluxion.com

Ipaq windows mobile 2003 upgrade

This is a VERY general question. There are many many software upgrades for the ipaq rx3715.

If you mean upgrading the OS, then nothing short of Linux is available.

Otherwise, please ask a more specific question.

It's not the iPaq that has the problem. Some sites are just not PDA compatible. I'm sure the new windows mobile 2005 has better web compatibility but I don't know for sure. You can download a shockwave/flash player for windows mobile but I have not seen a java download yet.
