You can open it and try to fix it but its too hard,
sometimes is is caused by dirts but in other cases,
ive repaired too many laptop keyboards already and most problems is due to disconnected lines, but the lines is made up of carbon lines so you need carbon pens to repair it.

Some keys on keyboard stopped working-can't even type in complete password

Hi Kenneth,

The easiest solution to your problem, is to attach via usb, a normal PC Keyboard to your Laptop, however, if you're mobile with the Laptop, then I suggest you take the unit to a PC shop so the Tehies there can fix the problem, which is basically, lack of graphite between keys and PCB in your Laptop, not for you to play with.

I hope this answers your query.

Cheers,
Peter

Number and letter keys are stuck (type) together

This model has no numlock as it has no keypad. It looks like a faulty keyboard as the linked keys appear to be in the same column in the keyboard grid. You could try Fn+F11 as this solves certain other keyboard problems with symbols etc. Otherwise could be a new keyboard required.

Try cleaning it with a tiny vacuum just for keyboards, or get a plug in keyboard with usb connection.

Certain letters are not working

When keys go faulty the entire keypad needs replacing. You can't replace individual keys. I would suggest contacting dell and ordering a new keyboard, it's an easy fix: http://www.essortment.com/articles/install-replacement-keyboard-dell-inspiron_102151.htm
If you need to purchase one, I did locate: http://yallstore.com/laptop-keyboard-replacement-for-dell-inspiron-1525-p-4228.html For $16

Missing key

Hi Allie18,
If the cat has not eaten the small plastic clips that fixes the key to the keyboard, you are in luck.
Just place the key over the keyboard, align it so it is square with the other keys, push it down firmly until it clicks into place.
If this does not work then you have some missing parts or bent piece of plastic.
If you are game, you can remove an adjoining key by lifting it up, then you can check this key and see if it matches the other key for missing or bent parts.
Your Dell supplier may have replacement keys, if not you will need to replace the whole keyboard.
