Question about U.S. Robotics (USR8054) Router

1 Answer

Bit of a long story but Ill point form it: - Yesterday I noticed the Wifi was not working on the laptop. Thought it was just being stupid because it is an old laptop - Today my brothers XBox 360 cant connect and I noticed my PS3 could not connect to the Wifi either - Went to http://192.168.123.254/lan.htm page to see if there is a solution there and I figure I change the password for admin and users, because I have been meaning to do that - Changed the passwords and now I cant return to the ip address page to configure. I reset the router, but still cannot return to the config page. The Power LED Light continues to flash green/orange. - The internet seems to be running though the router still, but Wifi is still not available So basically I want to fix two problems, which are probably related to one another, the Wifi and the ability to go to the config page. I have a suspicion that the router is broken, but Ill wait and see.

"Not logging into the router could be due to the IP address to log into it change after resetting the router."

But the IP is the default given. If there is a new address now from the reset, how do I check the routers new address? Can I change it back?

Not logging into the router could be due to the IP address to log into it change after resetting the router. As for the wifi not working make sue that the deices are using the correct security settings. Remember older devices are not compatible with WPA and uses WEP.

goto >run>CMD if XP if Vista or 7 goto start then type in CMD then right click on the CMD with the back box then click on run as admin then in the command prompt type ipconfig the defaulkt gateway will be the address you log into the router. Also when you try logging on wirelessly you may have to delete the old wirless network that is saved on computer or other devices as well due to the old one is still setup with the old info and the devices will not be able to log onto it with the old info.
