Try connecting directly to modem bypassing the router. If still unable to connect to the internet check to see if the IP address and the DNS is both set to auto. Also if this is Vista check to see if the connection keeps coming up as unidentified, if this is the case you would need to try to disable the ipv6 and if still you will need to follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233. If this does not work then it is going to be a hardware issue and seeing it would be both the nic card and the wireless card if is the hardware issue it will be in the motherboard.
