SOURCE: changing Pfaff 1222 sewing machine belt

Have a look at this: remove the top cover and have a look (don't put your fingers in !) at the plastic gear in the middle of the mechanism (left side of he selection keys). It often cracks and then the motor is able to turn the whole mechanism for part of the circumference of this gear and when it passes on the crack, it locks or slows down until the crack is passed. You need to have it changed if this is the case.

I suggest that the sewing machine be checked to see if there
is something wrong with the hook & hook race or if the bobbin
casing needs to be replaced

How do you adjust timing on pfaff 138 sewing machine

Take the foot off the machine
Remove the needle plate
Remove the feed dogs
rotate by hand until the needle is at the lowest position
continue rotating until the needle rises 2 mm
the hook assembly should be passing exactly by the scarf of the needle
if not loosen the two screws that secure the the hook assembly and rotate the hook assembly by hand until it is exactly at the scarf of the needle and the distance between the hook and the scarf is .1 mm (almost touching the needle)
tightened the two screws, replace the feed dogs and foot and it should sew perfectly

Can't reassemble the shuttle/hook in Singer sewing machine - it is Model # 1120 - an inexpensive machine but works great. It jammed and I released the retaining clamps (?) and the other little parts fell...

Turn the hand wheel until the hook race is in the left position..replace the hook to right side...replace the hook race cover..smooth end to the bottom..and snap back the hook retaining arms...now ready for inserting bobbin case...Good Luck

Turn the hand wheel until the hook race ON YOUR MACHINE is in the left position ...insert your hook ( semi circular hook) to the right side( jagged edge to the bottom)...insert the hook race cover ( circular, with the two jagged points facing inwards and in 12 o'clock position) and snap back the two hook retaining arms. Ready for inserting bobbin case. Good Luck

Pfaff tiptroni6122, the thread loops up on the bottom of material

Sounds like the hook timing is off. You don't need a new hook but you may need a new position finger. If you are unfamiliar with working on sewing machines then it needs to go to the shop. This is a great machine and is worth keeping up. Pfaff doesn't make the all metal hook anymore which is a shame.

good luck!

Sewing design thread breackage

Assuming that the timing, needle clearance, position finger and needle plate position are all properly set you can try the following:
1. Oil the hook (use Pfaff hook oil, it is a lighter weight than the normal white oil used on sewing machines).
2. Check the hook tip and flank for damage, buff out if possible.
3. Check the needle plate for damage and buff out.
4. Replace the needle.

This is a great machine and is worth keeping up, Pfaff doesn't make the all metal hook anymore which is a shame.

good luck!

Shuttle alignment and assembly

The shuttle/race/bobbin system shouldn't really be taken apart by the average user. Unfortunately, your chances of ever getting it back together properly so the machine will sew (this is the timing of the machine) are very slim. You'll need to take it to a sewing machine technician. I would recommend an authorized Pfaff tech as they'll be sure to have the proper tools to do this correctly - won't be inexpensive but will be worth it. Most "neighborhood sewing machine repair folks" don't have experience on computer machines. Resetting timing on a computer machine isn't the same as the old mechanicals and requires some expertise.

Where does the oil go?

To oil machine.....Remove the bobbin case.Snap the two retaining arms outwards.Remove the hook race cover (circular ring ) and the hook ( half semi circular) and clean with a soft cloth.Lubricate right hand side wall ( 1-2 drops of oil) turn hand wheel a few times until the hook race is in the left position...replace hook..replace hook race cover ( smooth end to the bottom) and snap back the two hook retaining arms and insert bobbin case and bobbin.
