If your car has never had a radio you can use a power tester to see what comes on in the fuse box when the key is on but you'll probaly have to run a constant power wire to the battery post itself.

I have a 2002 Ford Escort zx2 I replace the battery 3 days ago and my radio will still not turn on... any suggestions??

Check the radio fuse in the fuse box. Maybe its blown, otherwise it may be a failure of wiring or the radio itself. Check the wiring before removing the radio to check the back of it. Check the wiring in the attached link:

About half of your fuse block is switched and the other half isn't. Use a test light and check the fuses with the key on and then with the key off to find a good place to make your connection. Don't use any fuses that connect to the computer (usually red 10Amp). When you make the hookup. after finding a good fuse to use (generally 20A or higher), pull the fuse out and check to see which side is hot. Connect to that side and use an in-line fuse in the wire to the radio. You also need to attach a second wire from the radio in most cases to run the memory and clock. That wire attaches to a "always on" fuse attached the same way as the other one.

My radio does not go on clock works but radio does work ford f 150

usually there are 2 -12 volt leads on the radio...one that is hot all the time, and one that is switched by the ignition switch...it sounds like the hot all the time lead is working because the clock works...the hot lead is for the clock and for station memory backup.....is seems like the switched power to the radio is not getting power...check the fuses in the fuse box ..the one labeled radio sould be for the switched connection

How to run the wires for the stero

Take heed! Red is normally the hot wire. From the unit it goes to a fused 12 volt circuit. Either white or black can be ground wires. If you put current to rhe black or white you chance burning up the radio. Black or white needs to be attached to a metal piece of the dashboard. If you have a meter, there should be continuity to grnd and metal. Good luck

91 accord wagon-where can i find another ''hot'' unswitched wire

Trace the yellow wire back to the fuse box located at the side kick panel under the dashboard and place a new wire to replace the " short" wire. The clock wire may share the same wire for your radio. You can confirm this by looking at the label at the fuse box either located at the side kick panel as mentioned before or inside engine compartment, under the hood.

Elliott, You can pick up this ignition "hot" connection on the fuse box at the hot side of any fuse labeled accessory or of course radio or stereo. Most fuse boxes have a male connection just for this. Barring that you can hook it along side any component on the car that only works with the key or or better yet something that only works with the key switch set to accessory.
