Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

The drip pan on the kitchen aid superba is filling almost daily. The drip seems to be coming from the front side of a unit that looks like it has two solenoids/electric flow valves on it. The tube has a metal nut that attaches it to this unit. The other two pieces of tubing are attached by plastic nuts. When I removed the metal nut, there was significant water pressure - there seemed to be no clog in that tube. So, what do you can the piece of plastic with the electrical pig-tails coming to it. Could there be a clog in it? Tightening the metal nut a bit tighter did not stop the leak. Thanks!

Hi jarred_hamme,

With the drip pan that is filling almost everyday you might want to consider checking the water inlet valve. Especially if you have an ice-maker, check the water supply hose going into and coming out of the water inlet valve. This is how you can check it (water inlet valve):

Reminder: Before testing the water inlet valve, unplug the refrigerator to avoid an electrical shock hazard.

The water inlet valve is located behind your refrigerator. Find the water supply line coming into the valve and turn it off at the source (typically under the sink). Disconnect the supply line. Remove the screws that secure the inlet valve in place. The water inlet valve is connected by two wires.

1. First thing, make sure to label the wire placement on the water inlet valve before disconnecting the wires. The wires are connected to the terminals with slip on connectors.

2. Next, firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors.

3. Then, kindly inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If they are corroded it needs replacement.

If after doing the procedure above and eventually you're getting same issue continue on doing the steps I have below:

1. You might need to inspect the filter screen where the supply line connects as well.

2. If you found any debris or deposits that may have built up remove it by using a toothbrush or warm running water.

3. Lastly, if you can't clear the clog, it will be necessary to replace the valve (the filter is not removable on most inlet valves).

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

H,

This is usually due to any of the following reasons, a faulty door or gasket, a leaking drain pan, or a clogged defrost drain pan. Check the above mentioned to fix the the problem.

The drip pan that sits under the freezer side of our Kitchenaid Superba side by side refrigerator is full of nasty looking black water that I wanted to clean out but I can't figure out how to get it out of...

well to take that out ? which isn't normal part of it the drip pan catches water from the fridge / freezer and is caught in the pan while the evaporator generates heat to dry the pan out!! so if you really must remove it then you have to remove the wire in front of it to get it out other wise you just unplug it and reach in there with a brush to clean it

Leak in the water dispenser

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

hi there,

the drain pan is under the fridge behind the kickplate. the kickplate is the vent-line panel located under the door. it's held on by 2 screws. unscrew the screw and remove the kickplate. the drain pan will slide out. careful, as it's probably pretty full.

Ice maker not filling with water

I have a model KSRG25F and found that the solenoid that controls the water to the icemaker was not working. I tested by switching the water dispenser connection to the ice maker coil.
And then had the wife push the water fill in front of the fridge. I had aready changed out the control board in front because I didnt have the flash codes or solid led when simulating door closed. the parts is about $55 and hope that does it. Good Luck
