I have a Clarion CZ500. The microphone sensitivity was weak but I could hear callers well. I applied the microphone flash update from Clarion. Now, when I make a handsfree call all I hear is a static cracking noise that starts when the phone is dialing. I can't even hear the person talk when they pick up the phone.

I will use the contact information to undo the update. Thank you for the help.

Hi Mrsratbertio,

The issue that you are getting after you applied the flash update from Clarion is due to incompatibility. You need to put back the original firmware of your Clarion CZ500. You may contact the tech support to request for the original firmware to be sent out to you. For your reference here is their support contact: 800-GO-CLARION (462-5274) or Customer Service: 800-347-8667.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Hi, I'd like to help you out with this! I am doing some research on your CZ500, and it seems that based on what I read, the microphone might be plugged in the wrong place. , but based on what I'm reading there is a plug in the back of the head unit that is specifically for the microphone.hopefully this will solve your problem

The Clip Light and Static ?

I don't know what make & model of microphone or clip light you're using, but try unplugging the microphone cable from the preamp. That will tell you if the problem is in the microphone or the preamp/amplifier.

If you still get noise with microphone unplugged, try checking the power supply. You'll probably hear any hum from power supply. Make sure you're using one that's recommended or sold by the manufacturer.

Finally, try replacing the output cable. Any open circuits in the output cable could cause hum & noise.

That's all I can think of right now. Good luck.

I call my friend and i cannot hear her while she is talking.

There are two obvious reasons (and a number of not-so obvious ones) for this.
1. Have you got your sound on (and adjusted properly) ? You might have your sound turned down or off on your PC or just within Skype. To test if your sound is working, try making a test call using the Skype test call facility.
2. Your friend's microphone may not be working, they may not have one or its sensitivity in Skype may be turned down or it may be 'muted'. Ask to check that her microphone is not muted. Ask her to make a test call on Skype and adjust her microphone sensitivity so that she can hear herself sensibly.

On my version of Skype the test call has appeared in 'contacts' but now it is accessible from the menu at the top left of the window from the call > audio settings menu/page. You can change your volume, microphone and speaker sensitivity settings on that page. You may have a different version of Skype of course.

This sounds more like an issue with the sound card or on-board sound module that is not properly grounded or the microphone is too sensitive (i.e. pulls to many ohms from the sound card). You may want to look for updated audio drivers for that PC or use an external USB sound module that is usually much better quality and inexpensive.

People cannot hear my voice when i am making a call. I can hear them though. What so i need to do so that i can hear them? My mute is not on.

Your microphone(inbuilt) may be broken, muted or disabled via an application effect. Determine whether its muted, broken or ddisabled and apply the techniques below to correct the problem: 1. If its muted, unmute it. 2.If it has been disabled, re-enable it. 3. Turn off the sound effect filters that may reduce it's sensitivity. 4. Use a hands-free set to make and receive calls, as it's microphone will replace the function of the inbuilt one in the call making process.

Hi, I love my Avent SCD510 monitor, but it started acting up today. In the past, when the parent monitor was on, I could hear every move my daughter made. I could also tell that it was on by the white...

Hi there, I had the same problem. My baby monitor used to work fine, and then all of a sudden it wasn't picking up my baby's cries. I used to be able to hear the static in the background, but I couldn't even hear that anymore. If I pressed the "sensitivity" button on the side of the parent unit, I could hear the static and my baby, but after a minute it would shut off. Very frustrating!
It turns out that somehow the sensitivity had been set to low. (Maybe this had something to do with the time I let my baby play with it...) I turned the sensitivity back up to high and it worked fine.
To set the sensitivity, press and hold the sensitivity button (located on the side of the unit) for about one second. There will be a number of blue lights that light up on the front -- the more lights that light up the higher the sensitivity is. (Mine was set at 2 out of 5, not very sensitive.) While the lights are on, press the + button (located on the face of the unit) to increase the sensitivity (or press the - button to decrease it, but that is probably not what you want to do if you are reading this post.) Press + until all 5 blue lights are on, and you'll be at max sensitivity. (You can adjust it later if this is too sensitive, once you find out of this fixes your problem.)
After a minute, your baby monitor will set itself to the sensitivity level that you set. So if the sensitivity level is really low, the monitor will seem to turn "off" after a minute. If it is high, you should still hear some static.
Hope this answer helps someone! I am really glad I don't have to take this unit back, I like it.

Hp pavilion entertainment pc tx2032la microphone is always on when you plug in the headset there is an echo

I'm assuming your running vista Premium - go to control panel - audio - selected properties - recording - mute it to 50% when in operation then apply close and reboot. this should restrict the sensitivity of the inbuilt microphone - if you have upgraded to W7 you will need to upgraded the audio driver package using the vista audio drivers unless there is one on the HP website.

Microphone problem

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high orthey do, it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud
