Question about Sunfire Cinema Grand 200 Five 5-Channel Amplifier

1 Answer

My Sunfire Cinema Grand used to be working fine, and I stored it away but recently I dusted it off to use. All channels are working for except for the Front Right. Both the Voltage and Current Source sources are yielding a really delicate crackling sound in the speakers. I tried switching cables and inputs around and the cables and inputs work fine on the rear channels amp hookups if I hook it up that way. I checked the fuses and seem to be fine. Not sure what is going on and any help is appreciated!

Crackling is not good. Sounds like it needs to be serviced if all of the connecting cables are in good working order. It can be repaired by Rita's Vintage Audio in WA state. They are expensive but good.

maybe a coupling or dc filter has gone bad, unpolarised ceramic or any other type, usually disc type or surface mounted. they are connected in series on the audio line. one easy way to find out is test the capacitors whether they are shorted (the ones on the left channel). or u can shift filter capacitors left to right one by one to find out the culprit.

You need to now the RMS for a true capacity of your speakers and your amp.

I would say you are OK, with a margin, but if you turn the amp to max and blow the speakers, please dont call me.

Tempremental playing dvds

In response to your jvc-a75r DVD player, sometimes the solution might be less complex than it may appear. Had the same problem with my Samsung s321,the machine refused to read DVD's but would play CD's no problem. Simply opened up the cover(usually)4-6 small screws, and found my dog's hair inside of the player covering the laser eye.Electrostatic ionization attracts dust, etc. into the player remarkably well sometimes. Carefully used a cotton swap to remove debri. PLayerworked fine afterwards ...Good luck!
