There are different voltage outputs and amperage ratings on different chargers. as long as the plug fits, and the numbers are the same, you'll be fine. I would try to get a charger meant for your unit though.

I need to change the SATA on the BIOS of my gateway CX2724, but when I go into the System Setup (F2), I cannot go down to the SATA section. What can I do to change this? Right now, this PC is trashed, as...

Do you have a new drive installed in the system right now. If not you need to change the drive and it should detect it automatically. If you have it install and it is still not detecting it you need to go into the bios and select auto detect or auto for it to find the drive on its own. The reason that you may not be able to access this setting is that auto detect is already activated. Hope this helps with your issue.

The screen color is off on a gateway cx2724

It's probably hard ware related but we should try updating the video adapter driver to double check.

You can get them HERE.

Download, install, reboot. If the problem persists or if it occurs in the boot up bios screen it is for sure hardware related. In most cases the lcd needs to be swapped.

GATEWAY CX2724 SCREEN IS BLACK BUT COMPUTER WORKS. hOW DO YOU FIX THE SCREEN OR IS IT TO EXPENSIVE

Generally when this happens it means either two things, either the inverter or the backlight has died. The cost for the screen is $160 and can be bought here: http://www.blisscomputers.net/search.aspx?find=Gateway+CX2724. Getting someone to do it for you may be a problem if you feel you are not savy enough to do it yourself. Here is a basic tutorial http://www.screentekinc.com/lcd-removal-instructions.shtml. Before you do so be sure your computer is definitely working by connecting it to a basic desktop monitor via the vga connector from the monitor and using the Fn & I believe F5 to activate the other screen>

You need to go into the BIOS and change the SATA type to IDE and not AHCI. I had this same problem on my laptop. Once I switched it to IDE it installed XP no problem. I don't know if Vista or 7 work with it set to IDE mode.
