I can't open my dvd-drive. I've tried to pull a stick into the little whole at the drive but nothing happened. I've also tried to press computer --> dvd-drive right-click and press eject, but still nothing.

If you have put a pin in the little hole next to the open button, and tried to right click your drive and eject that way, the motor may have burned out. Its not uncommon for this to happen. Overuse or abuse can cause this. You can get this fixed a few ways. Take it into a repair shop and have them replace the motor. Or get an external DVD/CD drive. On average they go for around $60 for a decent one.

Why doesn't the disc tray come out when I press the button, I have done what the manuel said to do (disconnect the power source for a least 5 secons) but still nothing happens?

Depending on the device, you might try a manual 'eject'... most CD/DVD drives have a small hole at the side of the drive tray that will let you manually eject the CD/DVD...

Unbend a paper clip so you have an end of the wire pointing out, and then (with the computer turned on) gently insert the wire of the paperclip into the small hole until you feel some resistance, press a little further... you should hear a click and the drive will open...

My computer (3.0 GHz Pentium 4 with Asus P4P800-E Deluxe mobo) will boot to the POST screen, and it successfully identifies all of my hardware (memory, hard disk, DVD-ROM drive, etc.), but then won't...

Checked your RAM chips? Remove them and boot up and see if it will beep. If you have another DVD drive, swap it and try again. The board battery rarely goes, and only change it when it is not keeping the date/time etc, it won't help in outputting video.

I'm not sure if I'm typing in the correct spot, but I've 'googled' everything I could possibly google... but I have an HP Pavilion g6 notebook pc, and i got it 'used' but pretty...

First, make sure the CD/DVD drive is being recognized in your CMOS setup. You will have to press the key that it tells you to press when you first boot (DELETE, F2, etc.) and enter setup. For most different types of BIOS, the first screen that appears will detect and display disk drives, CD drives, and floppy drives, as well as date and time. If the computer BIOS recognizes the CD/DVD drive, then it means that the interface is OK, but it doesn't tell you if other parts of the drive are working. The door mechanism may have failed, for instance.

If the BIOS does not list the CD/DVD drive, it has either become disconnected or has failed. You will probably have to open up the computer and check the connections.

If they are OK, then the drive will have to be replaced. They are not too expensive, so you should be able to pick one up at a local computer store, or over the internet.

Good luck!

I have a 2 in 1 VHS/DVD player. It is a GO VIDEO DV1130. When I press the eject button, nothing happens. The tray doesn't budge. I currently have a DVD in the machine as we speak. The DVD itself works...

Sounds like you've got a problem with either the Drive Motor, Drive Controller or Drive Belt.

It could be an easy fix but it depends on the where the fault is.

Does it make any noise or effort to open the tray?

If yes then its the Drive Belt thats either slipping or broken.

If you remove the top cover and then the cover off the DVD you'll see the drive belt at the front. If it's still in one piece then you can just remove it and get one a few mm smaller.

Cant get my cd drawer to open i push the button and it wont open try pushing button and pry at the same time and nothing happens have emachine T3508

with your computer power turned off, use a straight mini-kabob pin (or sturdy paper clip) to manually let out the DVD drive tray. There is a little hole under the drive tray door that accepts this kind of tool device. Another option is to massage the door while trying to eject the DVD drive tray. This method requires your computer to be turned on and by selecting the proper drive (E:) from the My Computer in Start Menu, you then "Eject" and can push in on the door and on the corners, enabling the DVD drive tray to open.

DVD stuck in MacBook Pro but my laptop registers nothing...

If you look on the dvd drive there is a little round hole. Just get a paper clip and straighten it out and stick it into that hole. There is a little button that you push with the paper clip that is a manual eject button for cases like this.

HP CD Drive Will Not Open

Take a pin/needle, and stick it in the small hole which should be somewhere on the front of the dvd rom. This should open the drive a bit, so that u can pull it out. then close it, and try if it opens then. If it doesnt, then you will have to grease the sides of the slide (from the bottom) a bit with vaseline. open and close it manualy a few times, and try then. If it still dont work then, then you may need to replace the little black bellt which it has just underneath the tray, towards the front of the drive.

Good luck

System turns on however hard drive will not cycle nor will mouse or key board activate

Turn power off and unplug power from computer.
Unplug printers,backup drives and speakers.
Open case and unplug power supply from the board.
plug power cord back in press the power button.
Of course nothing will happen.
unplug power cord again.
plug power supply back into the board.
plug power cord backup and press power switch.
If nothing happens unplug power cord again.
pull out your memory sticks and plug cord back in and press power button.
Of course not much will happen.
But really something is happening to your computer so continue.
Pull power cord and replace memory sticks.
replace power cord and press power switch.
Continue this pulling out pci cards one at a time until you find out what the problem might be.
Try different keyboards and mice too.
Good Luck
