Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook
Hi there. So you are having some trouble with your netbook? Well theres something you can do to try and get it running. The first thing to do is flip your netbook over and lay it on a flat surface. Get a philips head screwdriver. Look for the cover that has a symbol that looks like 3 cds in a row. This is your hard drive cover. Remove the cover and carefully take out the hard drive. Put the hard drive back in and make sure it is secure. Put the cover back on and screw it back down. turn over your netbook and power it back on. Hopefully it boots up. If the same message appears then you will have to replace the hard drive. Good luck...

I recommend you find a friend with an external CD/DVD drive. You'll need to have an XP Installation disc and boot from the disc from the external drive. Let the disc run through Setup until you reach the point where you can choose the R key for Repair.
At this point you'll be shifted to a DOS Prompt Command Cursor. Type (all in capitals) FIXMBR. Shut down the computer, disconnect the external drive. Start the computer and if your hard drive is not dead you'll have fixed your Master Boot Record and you should start normally.

This sounds awful, but a friend just had the same problem - no bootable device. He had dropped it, hitting keyboard first. Now he thumped it on the opposite side and IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connector

enter BIOS - you will see a mesage when you first turn on laptop tellign you to press a key to enter setup. Do this and make sure HDD is listed. if it is, you might have todo a recovery.
Turn on laptop, then immediatly press ALT + F10 keep finger on ALT and press F10 a few times, this will start the recovery process. some ask if you want to re-install windows or full factory reset. Windows install will only repair it - full factory reset will delete any data you have! so be careful

Your netbook is trying to boot from your Lan/Ethernet connection since It can find no working hard drive to boot from. This usually means that your hard drive has failed.
Also remember that your netbook will try to boot from other drive types including your SD card, USB Memory Stick and even a Magic Jack if you have one inserted in the flash memory slot or USB slot while rebooting the PC.
Many people have mistakenly assumed that their Netbook is messed up because they forget to remove all flash and memory sticks before rebooting.
