Hi delvillar_us,

If you are having problems with your power connector i would suggest for you to replace it with a new one from any electronic store.

i would highly suggest for you NOT to open up the speaker and fix it your self. bring the speakers to an electronic store and consult with them with your issue and they can probably get it fixed or replaced for you.

I hope this helps.

Working off of my experience with a computer with a flaky power connection to the hard drive and when the drive fails to spin up there no operating system to read. I get the same message. Reach in, jiggle a wire and restart and it's good to go.

You either have a failed hard drive or it is not spinning up, or the operating system on the drive is unreadable due to corruption.

I turn the laptop on, just as the desktop appears the screen goes black and I can't do anything.

try removing the battery while the laptop is off of course and then plugging in the power adapter and turning it on. If all works then its your battery that is the culprit and needs to be replaced ....if it still doesn't work you may have bad memory if you know how to remove the memory with the laptop off and the battery removed then do so could be one of them .. but replacing them in-pairs is also a good time to upgrade to more memory for better performance 'if its not the memory and not the battery could be a flaky hard drive or you will need a new motherboard if the hard drive is flaky all may be lost bad mother board means its time for a new computer ...but your files may be OK on the old hard drive and could b saved to your new unit ....good luck !!

How difficult is it to replace the power connector in t42

$300 seems a little outrageous - try a local Mom & Pop PC repair shop. Stay away from those big electronics stores. It shouldn't cost you more than $60. Good luck!

If the problem is caused by moving it, it's probably a mechanical issue: loose cables, memory, broken main board. Check that the memory modules are firmly seated. Also make sure the processor is firmly in its socket and that the screws holding down the fan/heat spreader assembly are snug. Be sure the cable to the hard drive is firmly seated (if this model has one) or that the drive is firmly pushed into its connector.

You can also try running the machine with the top cover off and use a wooden stick (I get extra chopsticks when I get Chinese food, they work great!) to poke around and see if any particular spot causes the trouble to occur. If the system board seems to be the culprit, you might be able to spot some flaky connections, but most likely you'll need to replace it.

Tyan tiger mpx (S2466N-4M) weird boot problem

probably the board is bad or the board is grounded out on the chassis edge somewhere or possibly the mounting screws...

recommendation.. pull the system out of the chassis

test the power and board on a sheet of cardboard...

also try one stick of memory only and set the options for full ecc scrubbing on to test the memory correctly

CF-48 looses it's operating system!!systems seems to over heat and starts beeping!

Most laptops get warm at or near the processor as the fan is pumping air across it. This is why it is not recommended to sit it on your lap - blocks air flow and can cause burns. It would be worth checking that the fan is spinning freely and air is circulating as they **** in a lot of dust.

As for the beeps. Since you are getting OS not found it is most likely a flaky hard drive. It may not be spinning up initially, but a few tries could be kicking it over.

I would suggest backing up all your data and then replacing the drive. Laptop hard drives are notorious for failing due in part to physical movement of unit, particularly when turned on.

Flaky Operating System

Dying video cards and dying power supplies doesnt make your OS flaky, it sounds like your hard drive is getting ready to kick the bucket.

Hard drive light stays on and system freezes

You may have a hardware problem of some sort. The first place I'd start is to check the power supply voltages. If one or more voltages is off tolerance, this will cause all sorts of symptoms. if you have a voltmeter check especially the +5, +3.3, +12, & +5 standby voltages. Use this site as a reference If the supply checks out faulty, buy a replacement, or, if tech savvy, you might repair it-- probable component defects= one or more electrolytic capacitors. Other possible problems are Memory errors (try subbing a RAM stick), hard drive developing errors, or a bad chip on the motherboard. If you have some spare parts, RAM, hard disk, you can try subbing parts and narrow down the problem.
