Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My WXGA 15.4" LCD laptop screen for DELL Inspiron 6000 is temperamental. Works most of the time, but when I start up computer the bottom 1/2 of screen looks like color streaks down it (all blury/fuzzy color mish /ash). I fixed problem for a while by putting pressure on LHS of screen about 1/2 way down (seems like a loose connection). But now it's getting worse. Any ideas of how to fix this? Ivan.

The issue could be one of 2 things. The image inverter or the LCD. From the description it could be either.

Both can be found here:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=inspiron+6000+LCD&category0=

The inverter is fairly cheap ($20 to $50) the LCD around $150.

NOT a Dell Inspiron One 19 Service Manual, but may help you in disassembling yours, to replace the LCD screen,

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-one-2305

With this style, as most all-in-one desktops; you have to remove the Stand, Back Cover, etc, to get to the Display Bezel. Then screws are removed around the Display Bezel, and access to the LCD screen.

You NEED to wear an ESD wrist strap, and connect it to a good ground source. Average cost is $3 to $6.

I have an Dell inspiron 1525, I recently updated either my windows or my windows secerity program (can't remember) anyways it told me to restat my pc. So I did i'm guessing it was never done down loading...

It sounds like it is confused and has lost some of the registry entries, like we would have an index to find the files. Hopefully they are all still there.
Press F8 as it boots up, this should get you into a sub menu that allows you to use Safe Mode or Recovery. Try safe mode first as Windows will search for the "missing" files and repair the registry. If that doesn't work try Recover and follow the prompts. (That may only work under F11).
Hope that fixes it.

How to fix a black screen on my dell inspiron 6000 laptop, it loads up then turn back black, i close down the laptop top and open it up again it works for a sec. then turns back black, what shall i do?

There is a cable between the system board and the LCD. It may be loose or it may be bad. If you open the screen partially to a 45 degree angle, does it stay on? If it does, then it is the cable.

Here is the service manual for your laptop:

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Thanks, Joe

When I take the computer out of the standby mode

Try this:
  1. Update the BIOS and Video driver to the most current on http://support.dell.com
  2. Disable the screen saver
  3. Enable HIBERNATE instead of standby in Power settings, set the LCD to go off in 10 minutes, HDD to 15 and Hibernate in 20.
Select Shutdown, Hibernate
then try and restart

If no GO, disconnect all peripheral items except KB

Try hibernate again and restart.

If all works OK, add items back one at a time till you find item causing issue. If no go, replace power supply if issue still occurs, replace MB

Hi,
Generally the problem is caused due bad LCD inverter cable. Kindly run the LCD diagnostics
How to Run diagnostics
1. Shut down the computer
2. Disconnect the AC adapter and Battery
3. Press the power button for 10 sec.
4. reconnect both AC adapter and battery
5. Press FN key+ power button
6. Follow the screen prompts.

If the LCD problem is shown in diagnostics your screen would have to be replaced.

I have dell inspiron 6000 laptop. The laptop keyboard got locked. I can't use the keyboard and if press any key..it works for the function key. On the laptop, the light with lock symbol (9) is on.

When you turn on the laptop, just before Windows starts to load tap the F8 key a couple of times. If you get a menu, choose Last Known Good.

If that does not do it, and the mouse still works fine, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and run System Restore.

Choose a date from before the keyboard problem and let it reboot. Should solve the problem.

attach an external monitor to be certain the video card is ok,
next
Re-seat the video card cable to the lcd screen,
dell site explains how to remove top and keyboard.

your real issue may be the cable itself or the lcd screen.
