Hello, there are 6 tabs holding the case together, 2on each side. once the screws are out, i just run my finger nail allong the seem to unset them.

i suspect your gps needs more then a battery if you get the low battery message while plugged in.

this is very common problem with this and many model magellans. goodluck mind the finger nails

No voice after replacing battery

First, you need to tell us what model of Garmin that you have. We have seen many problems result from customers taking their GPS apart and breaking something while changing the battery.

You may have the speaker unplugged or have broken the contacts on the headphone jack which the speaker audio passes through. Please see this link for more info:

My Garmin Nuvi660 has stop sound out of the speaker. Sometimes it work for a second. I can't open the unit to see if the speaker is loose.

The speaker is not loose and I would advise not to open it up. Your speaker has an intermittent voice coil. The speaker needs to be replaced.

Please see this link. Too much info to be pasted here.

Need battery replacement instructions for magellan crossover GPS

remove the 6 screws from the back cover, then gently lift the back off a little till you see the speaker wire connected to the board...disconnect the speaker and lay the back cover to the should now be able to see the speker...disconnect the battery connector, then gently puller the battery off the board (it should be held fast with two sided tape)...put the new battery in and hook it up, then hook up the speaker and replace the rear cover...thats it.

if the battery fails to solve your problem, post back and ill help you further...this model is know to have a defective power port.

good luck

How do you replace the battery?

once you've removed the four Torx screws, get your thumbnail between the silver top and the dark grey back and prise the top open by about 1/4". Then lift and ease the front out.

There are two leads holding the two pieces together (one for the battery and the other for the speaker) but these are long enough not to break and once the unit is open they are on connectors anyway.

hope this helps.

Dead battery on Garmin StreetPilot c330

The silver faceplate snaps off (there is a tab at the top of the screen); remove the silver faceplate, remove the 4 screws to open the unit. The battery is located on the back half, and is conected to the circuit cards with a balck and red wire through a small connector that also as two brown and white wires for the speakers.

Replace battery how do you open n60i

There are two small screws on the bottom of the case. Remove these and pry open from the bottom carefully. Note that yhe case surrounds the USB jack so take care with that side of the case when opening. The speaker is on the back part of the case and is connected to the motherboard. As you remove the back make sure to disconnect the cable before you pull far and tear the connector - it's small.
